I thought I'd throw in a scenario I just ran across. I use both sidebar gadgets and have ipoint running in the background. One weird thing I noticed is that when I have Task Manager running, minimized, but have the setting "Always On Top" checked off, the
alt-tab depth bug is "fixed," that's with Sidebar gadgets running and ipoint running. It comes back when you bring Task Manager back to focus, or at anytime Task Manager is not set to always on top, or is set to hide when minimized. Not sure if this was mentioned...
I guess you could have Task Manager run at start up minimized, with the settings set to always on top as a fix, but itll be a permanent resident on your taskbar and alt-tab list. It's a shame that a neat feature like this is bugged.
Anyways, my "work around" for this is to add the following registry,
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AltTab]
"LivePreview_ms"=dword:00000000
This totally disables live preview during Alt-tab, but you keep Aero Peek for everything else. It's been mentioned a couple times, but those settings just had it delayed, while this one is indefinite.
