I just wanted to state my thanks to Bruce Dawson for his research into this problem.
I have been annoyed by this phenomena for quite some time now, and sure enough: Killing off ipoint.exe solves it.
Reminds me that I dumped the MS touch mouse. Their gesture driven mouse did not work with elevated processes... Since I'm in the habit of elevating Visual Studio, I was left with a mouse that only worked 50%. (elevating ipoint.exe helped iirc, but the easiest
solution was to get a new mouse)
I find MS' lack of response baffling to say the least. I enjoy the Aero preview and believe it adds value to what is for me an integral part of the Windows GUI. Good thing that I am able to live without ipoint.exe.
