Automatic Update deleted all my files!

Last night my laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit on a Dell Inspirion Laptop performed an automatic update. After rebooting, all my personal files including two 15 page papers I was working on for my degree were deleted.
All my pictures, word docs, and personal files are gone. Only the shell of My Documents folder, including the sub folders I created, is left.
I ran the System Restore going back to a two day old restore point, but non of my personal files were recovered.
I searced the internet w/ " Windows automatic updates deleted/erased all my files" and came up w/ several threads reporting this automatic update issue, but no solutions.
Similar questions have been asked in other parts of this forum w/out satisfactory answers:

I even displayed all hidden folders and searched the entire hard drive w/ *.doc and did not get a single file back!
I need help!
My papers are due in a week and all my course work is gone.

2015-07-30T23:11:38+00:00 Don't ask me why, but at a Senior Center at which I volunteer, I found that a guest that was recently updated the "Preview" version of Outlook.com had one folder worth of pictures saved in her "My Pictures" folder as files with the MSG extension.
I'm guessing if you find yours in the same place you could import them into Outlook (the program) and forward them to your Outlook (the Web site) mail.
That aside, why in Gawd's name did Microsoft chose to use the same name--Outlook--for a program AND a Web site?! (Please, administrators, step right up to the microphone and offer up some wisdom, thank you....)

2015-07-30T18:40:47+00:00 Missing my FILES after the Update went through. Not everyone was aware of this update, folks might have been at home when it happened. I was not home when the updates occurred MS could have sent an email informing everyone 2 days in advance the the update was going to happen.
I want to know what happen 2 my files my pictures, and school projects are gone. Can anyone help me am so lost. Please help.

Hey! The automatic Windows update did the same to my Asus! All of my personal documents/photos/files etc dissapeared and I was unable to locate them. I spoke with two ITs, which got me nowhere. I tried several times to restart my laptop, use the "Recovery" feature. I even attempted to undo the update- all to no avail. Three frustrating days consumed with hopelessness ensued.
But then.
I had an idea that I was sure wouldn't work; I simply enabled the "Guest" User Account(Control Panel>Users) and restarted my laptop.
And KABAMM!!!!
Everything was back to normal- all my files were exactly where I had left them and we finally accomplished world peace
I don't know if your issue is similar, but worth a shot...
