HELP ME TO INSTALL THIS THING SO I CAN ENJOY MY COMPUTER
Windows update fails with error code 0x643
I have downloaded the recent Microsoft updates and all but one installed successfully. The failing update was: Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 Security Update for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2 (KB953297);
with an error code of 0x643.
We tried several times to install it and it keeps failing. It was originally the 3rd update in the list to install. After failing the first time, it was the only one we were trying to install. We tried it after the restart required for the other updates.

User Account Control. Here's more information about it if you're interested:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc709691(WS.10).aspx.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!

2010-06-12T20:44:18+00:00 I'm also having problems installing the recent Windows update as I keep getting error Ox643 telling me that Microsoft .NET Framework (KB979906) wont install. Seems there's a problem here as I see I'm not the only one.

2010-06-11T02:39:19+00:00 Hi, I also had a major problem installing KB982536 (MS .NET Framework 3.5 Sp1, Windows Vista Sp2, Windows Server 2008). I tried uninstalling all .NET programs, rebooted and reinstalled .NET 3.5 and .NET Framework 4.0, rebooted and still wouldn't install. Used Cleanup Utility Tool. Didn't help. Eventually I turned-off UAC, rebooted and successfully installed the update. Turned UAC back on and rebooted. Hope this info is helpful.

Glen
