No low battery notification and my computer always just shuts off, I have all the right settings on

I am not sure if this issue has been resolved yet, but after I have been doing almost all the fixes that were suggested by users from various forums I have come across a button I haven't noticed before in the power settings. 

If you go to the battery icon in the system tray -> right click -> power options -> the power option window pops up. Next to any default power plan, (usually Power Saver; Balanced; High Performance) select the "Change Plan Settings" text. Another window opens up. Select the "Change advanced power settings" text at the bottom of the window. At the top of the new window you will see a drop down menu with the 3 default power plans as options. <- Keep this in mind as you need to do the following with all the power plan settings.

Next Click the "Restore Plan Defaults" button. Confirm it by clicking "Yes".

Now do this with all the power plans in the drop down menu mentioned above.

It fixed my issue with the battery low notification that stopped displaying.

* Note: If you have recently replaced your battery because the previous one was "used up" / faulty, you might remember a popup that told you that the battery needs replacement. If you clicked the option of "Don't display this message again" / "Don't display battery replacement notifications" it could've been the origin of the problem.

I have an HP with Windows 8.1 .. & what I've found out is, if you have it set to hibernate or sleep instead of shut down when the battery is low, when you plug it in & power it back on, the stuff you were doing will still be there. So you don't lose something you've been working on.

I have a Dell Studio XPS 1645 and i am facing the same problem as well.

I purchased my laptop now for about 6 months and the most annoying part is that there is never a low battery notification before my laptop hibernates. It has never shown up once.

The battery meter is active and shown in my system tray. I have gone into power options, changed advanced battery options for low, critical, and reserve levels as well as turned ON low battery notification. In system tray properties > notification area > customize > I have also selected "show icon and notifications".

The windows 7 microsoft website as well as many other forums only suggest to do these 2 things. I HAVE done these two things, as they were the original settings when I bought this laptop new...what else can I do? Is there a patch, download, anything?! I would rather not have to install 3rd party software. I would just like my laptop to function properly. I am not a heavy gamer or student, I just use my laptop to surf the web and watch videos. I also use free Avira antivirus, if any of this is important to why a battery notification won't show up.

 

Edit: My friend and I bought the exact same computer on the same day. His shows notifications and mine doesn't, so I know it's possible.

It sounds like because you didn't see the notifaction about your laptop getting low on power and then shutting down with out any warnning.? I have also had this problem.. but you see when you go into the advanched setting and change it a little, it then stops working alltogether... May I say also there is a warnning message what will apper when something is, or will be changed.?

Your best option is to use system restore and restore your windows 7 back to say a week.? or two weeks, using this option will refresh your laptop back to a weeks date in the os sytem info which will allteritively reset the wrong setting that the os may have fault with.? I use windows 7 Professional on my Desktop and i have used this before with getting help with some issue's.
