Running Windows 7, 32-bi,t on a Lenovo W500. Display Driver: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650. The error message (“display driver stopped responding & has recovered”) follows a system freeze, a short blackout. Then everything works fine. ******** my solution ******* I too was having this issue and couldn't figure it out for over a week. I contact Microsoft, xfx, at, intel, asus, google, yahoo, bing.....and bling ding sing.......u get the idea. Then I spoke to someone at gskill (because memtest reported errors like crazy on the modules). He wasn't sure about the problem either but made a suggestion about a memory setting in the bios that would help with how the memory was able to talk with the cpu fluently (my words). Ensure you have already install the latest drivers for your system before trying my solution . so here goes:- if you have more than then 2 gigs of memory you may want to consider this help. But if you have more than 4 gigs you will definitely want to consider this help. my motherboard is the p8z68-v --- p.s download to your desktop the graphics drivers of your choice, latest being (hopefully) the best. You are going to need them when you remove the corrupt files associated to the ones you are now using. restart and go into safe mode and get to the device manager--- right click my computer----select properties--- and look for 'device manager in that window and left click it. find display adaptors and left click on the +, you should now see the name of your graphics card. right click on the name of your card and choose 'uninstall' and uninstall everything. Restart and got o your bios. Go to the section that deals with overclocking (it doesn't matter if you don't overclock). scroll down till you find the 'vccio voltage' and set it to 1.1 v . that's it. press f10 and restart, your problem should be over. now I know each bios is different but if you don't see the same thing in your current bios, simply get in touch with your motherboard man. and ask them which feature within the bios stabilizes the data interaction between the memory and the cpu and manually set the volts. It's also a good idea to ask them if the 1.1v is ok for your board. Now go back into windows and install the graphics drivers you had save to your desktop. The typical desktop owner might be ok with 2 gigs of memory but for those of us who might want more than that, then the controller becomes an issue for it needs a bit more juice to maintain stability. I have done what I am telling you and after a week of searching and calling like a 'mad ///person' my system up to this point has not given me another error. you might also want to reinstall the directx drivers as they too might have gotten corrupt in the process. Yeah I don't think it's a clocking issue

I have the same problem too. I have installed windows 8 beta( i bought the pc without os). I havent tried any games, but the error message occurs when i use xbmc. I have a asrock ion 330 nettop pc. Earlier i have tried severel os of linux, but xbmc freezes the os. Thats why i installed w8 beta and see if i have to buy a windows os.
