Running Windows 7, 32-bi,t on a Lenovo W500. Display Driver: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650. The error message (“display driver stopped responding & has recovered”) follows a system freeze, a short blackout. Then everything works fine. Hi Maxstr, Yeah I changed it to 6 the first time I tried changing that setting. My changes went: 6-10-0-2. Every change made no difference. Thanks, Steve.

i have the same issue, i have a dell laptop(Inspiron 1501) 32 Bit, Display Driver is ATI Radeon Xpress Series since 2007. i cleaned out everything, by reinstalling vista, and cleaned out the old files so this is brand new and of course vista has to download all that update ****, but the error was gone. up until today it came back! i cleaned it out last wednesday. the error appears on youtube and such only. windows media player doesnt have this issue. just on youtube where i watch videos. is there an new windows update that is causing this? i have 23 GB still in hard drive so i dont know what to do. this error is making me mad. one thing to note, i dont have warrenty for Dell Tech Support but they said they can fix it on their end if i have warrenty. so it must be an easy fix i can do on my own, but i cant afford warrenty and dont know what they know. could be an update, overheating, or flash plug in/update?

Hi, I'm running win7 64bit with a nvidia gtx470 and getting the same prob you guys are getting. looks like vista and vista sp-win7 having the same lame problem looks like we all need to drop back to XP.

yeah, i think it's really a Microsoft update thing. Just the other day, there was a problem with my computer shutting down bc of one of the installed updates. Bc before then, my desktop,(running on windows 7-64 bit, intel i-5 650, with a Nvidia Geforce GTS 450 graphics card and 4 TB for hd) was just fine, no problems @ all. And i've had it in this same configuration for over 4 mnths now. I really don't think its an overheat issue, bc my HAF tower gets plenty air flow. Plus, my case itself has seen hotter days, running over 80 deg F with no problems @ all. ** I'll try this fix action some ppl are talking about where you single out some of your start up programs to see if its one of them not booting correctly

This error can happen because of an outdated video driver, to many programs running at one time or even high CPU activity. There is a link to a KB article on the following post that gives more info on the issue and helps to fix it, see:
