Running Windows 7, 32-bi,t on a Lenovo W500. Display Driver: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650. The error message (“display driver stopped responding & has recovered”) follows a system freeze, a short blackout. Then everything works fine. Downloaded the most current driver from the company's Web site. Seeemd to work for a day, but now I'm getting the same behavior. Crabby Office Lady

David, Computer is up to date. GC drivers are fully up to date. Updating driver doesn't work . Everywhere everybody does the same thing 1st and that's update the driver , if it was that simple then nobody would be complaining as much as they are doing or not as many people would have the problem and it wouldn't be persistant. Anyway I've told you what to do now so it's all up to yourselves but this is the problem with this driver issue and blank screen on and off business . Sick of people who think they know it all trying to push their noses in when all they are doing is sending people around in circles . Waste of time I have told the solution so if people are not intelligent enough to read and follow what I have found then they can get on with it and have a faulty computer. The thing that completely eradicates this issue is to format and re-install windows and that will get rid of it completely but do NOT just put all your old programs/games back on because u will get the same issue , do it piece by piece like a jigsaw and then eventually you will find out what program/game is causing the release of the virus into your system. If not then just re-install windows (not repair) and then leave it fresh , ill guarantee it will work .

No. Not a new build. Dell XPS 8500 with an I7 that had an AMD graphics card. I replaced the GC with a Nvidia GeForce 650ti for the dual DVI output. Needed to upgrade the PS because the GC needed a power source which the stock PS from Dell didn't have. Yes, Dell did a good job making new computers more friendly for Power Supply upgrades! No I didn't transfer the old hard drive to the new computer. I get a new computer every year so my old computer is more or less a time capsule for 2012. Only transferred a few files for accounting purposes and some images which were created by me that are needed for my site. Other than that, I've downloaded stream and the producer software for Livestream, which is the same stuff I had in my old computer. Also downloaded the AVG Anti-Virus software because I have a license and just tranferred it to the new computer. Only thing I could possibly see this thing coming from is my cellphone, but I barely use that for anything because I'm in front of the computer all the time. I charge my phone using the USB and it keeps Kies updates (Android).

Try updating the drivers in the computer. Go to Computer (right click), Manage, Device Manager. Right click on the display driver or adapter, press update. David

This error can happen because of an outdated video driver, to many programs running at one time or even high CPU activity. There is a link to a KB article on the following post that gives more info on the issue and helps to fix it, see:

Try updating the drivers in the computer. Go to Computer (right click), Manage, Device Manager.
