Running Windows 7, 32-bi,t on a Lenovo W500. Display Driver: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650. The error message (“display driver stopped responding & has recovered”) follows a system freeze, a short blackout. Then everything works fine. Downloaded the most current driver from the company's Web site. Seeemd to work for a day, but now I'm getting the same behavior. Crabby Office Lady

I just built a new computer, a gaming machine. This problem cropped up about a week after we got it up. I went into the registry and set the TDR values to 0 instead of the default 2. Before that I ran the fix-it on Microsofts website and it set those values to 8, it did nothing. Setting the values to 0 helped a lot but still does it. I see this is a problem with all kinds of machines so it's the fault of something in windows. Perhaps some of you might fix yours by setting those values to 0. It is annoying to say the least. One other thing, on my machine playing games it never happens. I am going to increase the voltage to the gpu and see what happens.

So I just got this issue this morning and Its happening mostly when I open Chrome browser, though it sorta random. I have updated both my Nvidia driver and Chrome, but problem persist. I havent installed or got anything new for the computer, but it just happened today.

NOT FIXED! I rolled back the driver. I'm using a generic windows driver from 2006. The screen goes fuzzy but I still have functionality so I'm able to hibernate and not lose anything. It's very intermittent. I can't be sure what causes it to fuzz out. It could be a virus and there it goes so I'll post this and be done.

Didn't have any issues until I installed my GeForce 650ti, but maybe it just doesn't configure well with the FireFox plugins? Who knows, but I'll give it a try. Hate IE, so I might try Chrome.

This error can happen because of an outdated video driver, to many programs running at one time or even high CPU activity. There is a link to a KB article on the following post that gives more info on the issue and helps to fix it, see:
