“Display driver stopped responding and has recovered” error.

  • Running Windows 7, 32-bi,t on a Lenovo W500. Display Driver: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650.
  • The error message (“display driver stopped responding & has recovered”) follows a system freeze, a short blackout. Then everything works fine.
  • Downloaded the most current driver from the company's Web site.
  • Seeemd to work for a day, but now I'm getting the same behavior.

Hello Crabby Office Lady,

This error can happen because of an outdated video driver, to many programs running at one time or even high CPU activity. There is a link to a KB article on the following post that gives more info on the issue and helps to fix it, see:

    I have had the same problem, recently I updated my intle R graphics driver. I then used my internet and it stopped. I have had no problems in the last week, this is the downloadhttp://svc.systemrequirementslab.com/iduu/iduu.aspx?app=graphics click check your system for the latest update. Then wait for it to check, download the intle graphics driver. install and restart your computer/laptop. i think it only works for windows vista but try it anyway. it also fixes games played on the computer/laptop.

    same issues but I have a Nvida gtx 470 graphics card and 8 fans from case 6" fan top case another 6" fan Side Case another 6" fan bottom case another 6" fan rear Case 2 rear fans power supply feeds oustide case  still is super cool system.

    quad core intel

    8 gigs ram

    8 terabit hardrives 3 are external cooler  master

    all drivers on all items upgraded to newer drivers. soooooooooo what idea do you have?

    I have the exact same problem on my older Dell 5150 and I have no SATA drives on my machine.
