Running Windows 7, 32-bi,t on a Lenovo W500. Display Driver: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650. The error message (“display driver stopped responding & has recovered”) follows a system freeze, a short blackout. Then everything works fine. Downloaded the most current driver from the company's Web site. Seeemd to work for a day, but now I'm getting the same behavior. Crabby Office Lady

HI GUYS.I HAD A SAME PROBLEM FOR LONG TIME.I WAS SEARCHING ANSWERS EVERYWHERE .......BUT FINALLY I NOTICED THAT MY FAN IN MY LAPTOP IS BLOWING WARM OR EVEN HOT AIR.SO I OPENED ALL THE SCREWS .REMOVED MEMORY AND HARD DRIVE AND CLEANED MY FAN AND OTHER MOTHERBOARD DUSTY PARTS VERY CAREFULLY WITH "DUST OFF".I NOTICED THAT MY LAPTOPS FAN WAS FULL OF DUST.I CLEANED AS MUCH AS I COULD.SO AFTER 30 MIN WORK I TURNED MY LAPTOP ON AGAIN AND IT WAS WAY FASTER AND MY FAN IS BLOWING COOL AIR AND NO MORE DISPLAY ERROR MESSAGES,NO MORE BLACK DISPLAY AND NO MORE PROBLEMS. I THINK THE MOTHERBOARD AND GRAPHICS CARD JUST OVER HEATED OR SOMETHING,AND COMPUTER JUST TRIED TO PROTECT ITSELF .

Just curious, have you tried to overclock the processor? I had all the updates, shoot I even went back and put older drivers in at one point and still got this same error. Then I took and overclocked the processor using MSI Afterburner. As soon as my machine finishes booting up, I start MSI Afterburner. I set the core clock and usually the computer will "lock" up (screen flickers etc.) ONE time.. and then after that. No more problems (until I shut down the computer and have to set it up again)

man i had it with win 7 32bit and now again with win 7 64 bit it's windows not your graphics card or motherboard or whatever.

This error can happen because of an outdated video driver, to many programs running at one time or even high CPU activity. There is a link to a KB article on the following post that gives more info on the issue and helps to fix it, see:

man i had it with win 7 32bit
