The error message (“display driver stopped responding & has recovered”) follows a system freeze, a short blackout. Then everything works fine. Hi, I first had the problem with my ati hd 6950 a month ago. I tried everything written on the internet. Then I changed the card with a gtx 580 lightning but the problem lasted. After that, I upgraded my high power 600w psu with a 1000w silverstone gold, and there it is. All the error messages have gone forever. I think the problem is not about the Tdr Latency. In my case graphic card needed more juice on 12V rail.

I finally found out what was causing this error on my machine for sure. It was a bad stick of RAM. I initially had discounted this as a possible problem due to running Memtest and all the feedback talking about temps and software issues. I had found one stick with errors in my 8GB dual stick pack (2x 4GB each) I had bought recently. That one was causing BSD and was easily found. That one showed errors in Memtest and the other stick didn't. I finally on a hunch removed the other "error free" 4GB stick and the problem went away. It has been almost a week now since it has happened with not one single "display driver has reset" error. The errors were happening at about 4 per browsing period before removing the "offending stick"....about 30min per browsing period. The odd thing is it didn't reset when I was taxing the machine by gaming much but it did seem to reset itself an awful lot while web browsing which I though was odd and also had me looking for the problem in software places instead of hardware. Ok, as far as disclaimers....I am not, and was not overclocking my system at all and under load my 560Ti GTX GPU runs less than 70c. I didn't see many people talking about this could be a memory issue so I hope this helps. Specs for reference... Hi, Had exately the same problem and did alot of resarch of the problem on google before i found out that the temp was the problem. Or i at least think so. Found out that core clock settings etc was wrong, so i clicked safe mode settings on expert tool for nvdia and linked the clocks, but i turned up the fan speed to 70% and so far i havent had any more problems with games etc. I have a Nvidia Gtx 480 Can finally run Fear 3 Gta iv etc most games with graphics set on the highest without any flickering on the screen or that error. This error can happen because of an outdated video driver, to many programs running at one time or even high CPU activity. There is a link to a KB article on the following post that gives more info on the issue and helps to fix it, see:

Hi,
