I went to do something with partition magic (it recognized something with the pointers I believe, so I allowed it to automatically fix the error) and now I'm not even able to access Partition Disk #0, Partition #1 which is a drive that I used to store data (No OS). It doesn't appear in 'My Computer', but does appear in Disk Management but it doesn't seem like I can do anything with it besides delete the partition. There's a lot of data that I have stored and I don't want to lose it all.

I used a partition tool to find out what sectors each of the partitions are starting at and for one of them it's sector 15 and the other it is sector 33. I'm not sure if that has any significance to my problem, but just thought I'd let it be known.

Error Message: "The operation failed to complete because the Disk Management console view is not up-to-date. Refresh the view by using the refresh task. If the problem persists close the Disk Management console, then restart Disk Management or restart the computer.

I solved this problem by going into device manager and uninstalling the usb drivers. Then when I plugged the hard drive back in it reinstalled the driver and worked.

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers Community.

Try using diskpart to assign a drive letter to Disk #0, Partition #1.

· Click Start Orb > type diskpart

· Right-click diskpart in results above > click Run as administrator

· Once diskpart loads type list volume, press enter

You should notice that you will see your partition that you use for your data, it should not show a drive letter assigned to it.

· Type select volume 6 **** (replace 6 with the volume number assigned to the partition in question)

· Type assign letter Z (replace Z with the letter that you want to assign to it)

When you look in Computer, you should be able to see your partition.

HI ALL! whoever is facing this issue. All I want to say is, YOUR DATA IS STILL SAFE & NO NEED to worry : ) ....RESOLVED.

I had same issue:-

MY drive status was when it was fine:

c drive- windows OS

D drive - personal data

Z drive - personal data

SOLUTION :--- our aim is to convert from logical drive TO primary drive with any software.

download FREE software called AOMEI Partition Assistant Home Edition from any website ex- cnet, etc or at this link :- http://www.4shared.com/file/mLpCGp8v/PAssist\_Home-drive\_changer.html (size just 3.42 MB) <--- RECOMMENDED

Acronis Disk Director Suite is NOT free but has same feature, so if you want you can buy it from their own website(size is about 74-120 MB)

STEPS

1st Method (AOMEI Partition Assistant Home Edition ):

Just INSTALL and RUN it-->right click the drive(a lost drive)--->click advance-->click change to primary-->click apply on the left top corner--->YOU ARE DONE.

NOTE* if it gives error then you need NOT to worry---->just restart PC and YOUR DONE!!!

2nd METHOD---- run LIVE LINUX CD from bootable PEN-DRIVE or CD/DVD. Any linux ex- ubuntu, slax, BT, etc.

Go to my computer under application and you will see your drive---JUST COPY all your important data to any flash-drive/external drive and then format your windows drive. You got your data in backup.

Note- sometime you wont be able to see your drive even in linux. so use 1st method only.

SOME have said here that:- after right clicking in Acronis Disk Director Suite, advance option don't show in order to change to primary . All I want to say is, just 'right click' and click 'change type' and click OK(default settings)-->click apply/confirm-OK. DONE!!!

In AOMEI Partition Assistant Home Edition, right click->click advanced->click change to primary->ok-->apply-->OK- ignore error--RESTART PC....DONE!!!

"AOMEI Partition Assistant Home Edition" is software similar to "Partition Magic", but really works on "Windows 7" platform.

Hey chris frnd just help me....i have download the window 7 image....when i was trying to make a USB bootable from Window 7 USB/dvd software ....i will give the error...(this iso is not a valid iso................)plz help
