how do you manually reset the drm media rights?

Thanks PetRoseDK for posting a more recent experience of what worked for you. I too have been struggling with the dreaded greyed out button and have tried every single solution in this thread to no avail. I am running Windows 7 on 64 bit and have not downloaded any media on this computer yet, so today I attempted to download some movies from the bigpond movies site in Windows Media Centre, which led me to the greyed out button problem.

With Debbie's solution, like many others reported here I could not find any DRM files in the location suggested, nor did I find any in other places despite clicking the display hidden files.

I tried the other simpler suggestions listed some people had success with such as right-clicking and running as admin etc too. Pressing F12 and changing the browser mode had no effect either.

I tried the solution you had success with, but run into trouble at the step where a .txt log file of the cleandrm. exe is generated. This is what the log files all say (I tried it many times over):

I think this may be where the problem lies as after closing the txt log and going to the link http://go.microsoft.com/FWLink?LinkID=34506  in I.E and running as admin (Start>>Explorer>>Run as Administrator) I am still presented with the greyed-out button....

I don't understand what 'failed to open data store exclusively' means, but the 'CleanDRM failed' message is pretty clear. If anyone has any information on this that could help I would greatly appreciate it. As it is I can't play movies or music or other media on my pc in the WMC/WMP, which is a huge disappointment.

I know this is an old post but I think annettebourke has hit the nail on the head for the users still having a problem of getting the DRM reset browser link to run.  For these users It looks like the 'CleanDRM.exe' application is running, but not performing the desired reset (as per the cleardrmlog.txt that annette has posted above). Then when they go to the browser reset link it remains greyed out.

I'm getting the same 'greyed out button' after running the CleanDRM.exe which appears to work. I've tried running IE as an admin, both the 32bit and 64bit versions, I've tried running in safe mode, I've tried adding the reset link to the trusted sites etc... I've also tried running the CleanDRM.exe in various modes such as 'run as an admin', changed compatibility modes etc and the none of these work.

I don't know what the cure is but certainly the problem is that CleanDRM.exe is running but not doing the desired job to allow the reset browser link to work.

Check you log files, if your getting the same as annette or something like mine below then CleanDRM.exe is not working for you.

That DRM folder is the wrong one and it should be empty as far as I can tell. The Folder is hard to find but will show up if you go below the show hidden files button and un-check the hide protected operating system files. But regardless all this 'fixing' does not fix the problem for me.

When I reset / upgrade the DRM it says it was completed successfully and I have a new clean DRM folder, however when I open WMP 12 it still wont play Store bought DVD's it shows a flash of the movie and then a black background pops up and it is clear the WMP is blocking DVD playback of legit DVD's but there seems to be no fix offered anywhere on here.
