You can associate all CRD files with cardfile.exe. Then make a shortcut to any of your CRD files and the shortcut will auto-launch cardfile.exe and open your clicked CRD file in it.

How do you associate CRD files with cardfile.exe? Easy. Right click any of your CRD files, select Properties. On the General tab, there is an item labeled: "Opens with:". There is a "CHANGE" button to the right of that which, when clicked, takes you to a list of applications from which you can choose. You can have your system open CRD files with whatever application you choose but CRD files are native to cardfile.exe so that would be your best choice.

    After much old grief over learning that CARDFILE.EXE WIN 3.1 (16 BIT)  would not work with my new PC with VISTA and now Windows 7,  I FIRST downloaded cardfile (32) bit  ZIP file at per the online link below.

    I opened and unzipped the file. I then saved dragged the new (32) bit cardfile.exe to a new Windows  folder that I had created.  I copied my cardfiles.crd  from my Windows XP (32) bit laptop to a pocket drive and dragged them from that into the new folder in Windows 7.

    I then followed all your instructiions at top above and Cardfile.crd  works magnificently and flawlessly so far.

    I created my desktop shortcuts and rebooted as a sanity check and it is still all working fine.

    Yes! PREVIOUSLY,  I also made my OLD Windows 3.1 (16 BIT)   CARDFILE.EXE  work on my 32 bit Laptop and Windows XP  using the older Windows Explorer and OPTIONS - file association method.

    So  it appears we have now revived our trusty  CARDFILE.EXE (16) bit (32) bit and now (64) bit Windows 7 compatibility.

    I have not loaded it on our other (32) Bit VISTA laptop yet but think it will work smoothly also.

    If anyone wants  the steps to make 16 Bit Windows 3.1 Cardfile.exe work on Windows XP by FILE Association let me know.

    Follow my advice at bottom of this page 2 and  "Yogibish"  at the top pg 1 and all will be well.  Download the newer (32) bit CARDFILE EXE FIRST.

    But just in case this is your dilemma....???

    After opening CARDFILE.EXE (do not change the name) you can click on FILE - SAVE AS and save multi copies on any new CARDFILE.CRD files to your PC.  Note there is a 1260 card limit to each file. Then  you need to create a FILE - NEW -SAVE AS file.

    I tried this, but I got a screen (Windows Security) that asked for a name and password. Is this mine or theirs? My name and PW does not work.
