Can someone help me get CARDFILE.EXE running under windows 7/XP Compatibility?

You can associate all CRD files with cardfile.exe. Then make a shortcut to any of your CRD files and the shortcut will auto-launch cardfile.exe and open your clicked CRD file in it.

How do you associate CRD files with cardfile.exe? Easy. Right click any of your CRD files, select Properties. On the General tab, there is an item labeled: "Opens with:". There is a "CHANGE" button to the right of that which, when clicked, takes you to a list of applications from which you can choose. You can have your system open CRD files with whatever application you choose but CRD files are native to cardfile.exe so that would be your best choice.

    Dave - this sounds great!  I have Access but am not a big user, so if what you have is usable by a novice I would greatly appreciate a copy.  ******@sbcglobal.net.

    With cardfile.exe going away, I created an Access database with two tables, one form, and some VBA code that will import the contents of a *.crd file into Access tables. Had to use a sector editor to be able to study how cardfile stored its information. I've used it to import a card file for a friend with over 800 entries without a hitch. Drop me a line if anyone is interested in a copy of it.

    Look I am not a sales person but a Windows 7 Professional   user and a former Cardfile on XP forever.   I had same issue on going from the 16 bit.. and cannot find the 32 bit version a I just ground up all my old CDs... OK the solution I found was to go to this web site http://www.azzcardfile.com/ and use their free AZZ Cardfile program.  It is shareware so they would like very much for you to donate / pay $19.00 with some extra charge for using Paypal... I did as site is OK but Eastern Europe PayPal is safer than credit card.  You can import the Old MS Cardfile "*.crd"  directly into this program which has a lot of extra features.  It also allows you to export your old cardfile data to csv or other formats you can import to Outlook 2010, Excel, etc...

    Not as cheap as no cost, but what the heck, this program for $19+ is a life saver.. I know XP mode etc could do the job with a lot of hassel. 

    Note: there may be other programs out there, but this is the one that looked best to me so I bought it without the hassel of being reminded to register/pay every few uses.

    I bought the full version and imported the cardfile (CRDS) IT Works well with many editing options including storing pictures. but after a while I started having problems where it would crash or when you went to reopen it the message given was invalid file. To get round that (1) you have to delete the invalid file. (2) make a copy of the backup......... it makes a copy every time you close down. (3) rename the copy to whatever you have called your file and change the extion to azz.. Un fortunately to stop this happening every timee you have to save the file by going Save as and when it tells you you are about to overwrite the file proceed and over write it. when you close the file it sometimes asks you again do you want to Save. click no because if you save after carrying out a Save As it re-scrambles the file. I contacted the author who was less than helpful  (Antanas Zdramys ******@azzcardfile.net) and ******@azzcardfile.com .

    It is good but does have problems especially when the file gets large mine is 6.87 megabyte
