Microsoft Picture It incompatability with Windows 7 and alternatives for .mix files.

I have had the same problems as you regarding m/s picture it. I have discovered a way round it though.

A friend has a laptop that is never connected to internet and he likes to dabble with cards and newsletters to print off. I loaded my 4 cd version of picture it onto his laptop and low and behold, it works perfectly.

 This tells me that m/s have not only stopped supporting pic it, but physically send a link down internet to your pc or laptop to prevent pic it working. This to me stinks and confirms my belief that m/s are scoundrels and money grabbers.

My suggestion is that you get a pc that has not been connected to internet, load picture-it, do the work you want, then save to flash drive and transfer to wherever you need. Just remember to not save work in picture format

I had MS Picture It 10 loaded on my office and my home Windows 7 x86 computers and it worked perfectly until last week on my office computer and just today on my home computer.  It worked on my home computer yesterday, but not now.  I even did a system restore back to several days ago and it still won't work.  Compatibility mode does not work either.  I have tried editing permissions, taking ownership, running as administrator, etc.  Nothing works. 

I can open the software make all kinds of changes, etc. to my photos, but it refuses to save anything.  I just get a message that pops up "Cannot save to C:......" 

I too have been unable to find any other software that will do exactly what I need it to do and am going crazy trying to fix this problem.

I have been using Microsoft Picture It for years to design tons of graphics for my business and now I have purchased a new pc loaded with Windows 7 and find that my true love Picture It! is not compatable.  I never dreamed this would be the case for a software that isn't even a decade old or that new pc I just spent thousands on would be sitting right back at the store it came from.  I really feel that Microsoft has cheated me out of something I paid for and invested so much work in by making it unusable and it has brought my small business to a standstill.  What other program is available that is compatable with Windows 7 that will allow me to edit and view existing .mix and other Picture It! format files and contain all the capabilities of Picture It?  I would be willing to purchase additional software from Microsoft to make Picture It compatable to Windows 7 if necessary.

I agree 100%!!  I relied on Microsoft Picture It as well.

We just received Windows 7 this past November and I cannot

believe that it is not compatible with Windows 7.

I want my Windows XP computer back.

I am so frustrated and cannot comprehend why Windows 7 was not made

to accept Picture It. It is a fantastic program!!! Everything was done it.

Is there an alternative program for Windows 7?

I complained to the better business bureau... and the response from Microsoft was that they have no intention of doing anything to make it possible for us to use our software.. They suggested i come to this forum to discuss it with other users.. So YOU decide where you want t buy your next photo software.. I KNOw i won't be buying anymore microsoft..
