original title: Windows 7 Explorer Frequently Crashes!!! **** ... no way!!! yep. It usually happens when my computer is left on overnight or after a few hours of some serious php scripting with but of course MS Expression Web 3. lmfao. It usually results in not being able to rename something ... right click ... delete ... etc. Its one of these not multiples ... that causes a explorer crash and in order to fix this annoying undocumented feature ... i MUST REBOOT! Do you know how annoying this is when your right in the middle of editing some plain text documents!!!!! ... the initial installation took about 20-30min to actually start up and took an excessively long long time to install to begin with.

WTF Microsoft ... I thought Win7 wasnt going to have any of the previous OS issues! Linux FTW!

I found the problem. It's because of exeption after loading  the firebird cpl applet (system32\Firebird2Control.cpl). When I was renamed the file with some different extension the problem was gone. Thank you anyway!

    Best regards

May be the problem is abaut the bad installation of "Internet Download Mannager" but this is just suggestion. Try to uninstall the program check if the problem exists, then try to install it again and then check for problems.

    Hi Zombie,

Its probably a problem with Shell Extensions. A Shell Extension is nothing but right click menu options installed by third party programs on your computer. They appear to access features of a particular program within Windows Explorer window. A malfunctioning shell extension could be responsible for your computer to crash like this.

What you can do is disable any malfunctioning shell extensions using appropriate programs. Google for free shell extension editor programs, you'll get plenty of freewares. Install it. From a complete list of all shell extensions, right click the faulty one and select "Disable" option.

If you are experiencing Windows 7 crashes after installing a specific program then it is possible that it might have installed some Dynamic Link Library (DLL) files which no longer support the operating system which is currently installed. For example, the program might have installed a DLL file which is made for Windows XP on your Windows 7 computer likewise. To resolve this issue, there are two choices: 1) Uninstall the program; or otherwise 2) Restore your computer to an earlier date.

To uninstall the most recently installed program, click Start, select Control Panel. Click Programs | Uninstall a Program. Select the program name and click "Uninstall" button.

To restore your computer back to an earlier date use System Restore feature. Click Start, point to All Programs | Accessories | System Tools. Select System Restore. Click Next, select a restore point before installing your new software and click "Restore my computer". Follow the on screen instructions.
