windows live mail unsent messages in outbox

The thread is not too old, if it shows how persistent difficulties are, and how worth while it is (if you have time, or desperation) to LOOK BACK through the history of questions and replies!

Even though I no longer have THAT problem, the various attempts to solve it have led me to discover more about the complexities of W. Live Mail, many of which, I think, could usefully have been kept inaccessible unless specially required, so that basic functions would be simpler.

I still come back to WLM, however, now that skirmishes have been won, largely through the good contributions of subscribers.   Thank you!

I've already approved Bat-Hubba's reply of 20 months ago.  My only quibble about it is that s/ he should have put a question mark in the second paragraph: "To the moderator, who cares if the thread is old, if people are still experiencing the problem...?...

Every time I sign off Windows Live Mail I get this message. You have unsent messages in your outbox. Do you want to send them now? It does not matter if I say yes, the message still comes back. I have checked my outbox and there are no messages pending. I am using Window 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Now do I get rid of this message.

I don't want to send the messages now , The messages are old, I would like to be able to send emails without them going to out box, I am frustrated

1. "Normally", if you have the "View" provided by clicking the "Home" tab in the "ribbon" at the top of WLM screen, you see the "Outbox" below the "Inbox" and above the "Storage Folders".
2. (If you should be as unfamiliar with WLM as I have been, experiment with different "Views" from that top ribbon, to see what can be revealed.  I believe it is perfectly safe, if you confine yourself to that, in order to glimpse the numerous possibilities.  But come back to "Home".)
3. As to the "Outbox", if there are messages stored/waiting there, the number of messages is shown  in brackets.  If there are no  messages waiting, there should be no brackets and no number.
4. You say "there are no messages pending"; yet you add: "I don't want to send the messages now. The messages are old." !! Where are they, if not in the Outbox?
5. When you are offline (see top ribbon, again), any messages "Sent" are stored in the Outbox.  When you go online, these are said to get sent automatically, but they will certainly go if you select them and click "Send."  If, instead, you click Delete, they should be deleted, and won't get sent!.

Sorry if this is too elementary, but it is what I needed to know when I had that problem.
