windows live mail unsent messages in outbox

Looking back over FOUR YEARS of discussion of this problem, one might say that WE REALLY ARE A COMMUNITY! of WLM users thwarted by its mechanism, and usually not helped by the "experts".

   I have stopped using WLMail, and adopted Mozilla's thunderbird instead, but I cannot leave the Community following this thread , because I sill have not succeeded in stopping mails about it!  Happy Christtmas to your Outbox !

Sorry to read this.  I look after about 150 client computers and about half of them use WLM, and are quite happy with it.

I have found that most of the time when mail is stuck in the Outbox it is because one or more of the emails there, are in fact in some way corrupted -- read cannot be sent.  Simply clicking on the Outbox folder and deleting one or more, allows mail to be sent again.

The other cause I have seen, but is much less common is the instance when your email service provider service is not operating, or in some way your Internet service has been stopped.  That could be a problem anywhere from the wireless connection in your home to the actual service provider.

Sometimes, WLM becomes a miscreant.  99% of the time when that happens, there is a simple solution that works.  It is a repair of WLM.  Repair is available through the Uninstall a Program link in the Control Panel.  Once you click on Windows Live Essentials and click the uninstall/repair button then choose repair, in but a few moments WLM is back up and running just fine.

Another important note.  The 2011 version of WLM is clearly the best, and disappointingly no longer available, but if you have it installed, keep it.   It works great.  The 2012 version works but Microsoft has done some updates to it that have caused some people problems.

It is critical to understand that Microsoft itself has stopped all "support" of WLM.  In fact Microsoft really does not want you to use any Mail program on your computer including Thunderbird. They very much want you to use the webmail program in Windows 10, and have Windows 10 installed.  They have shown that they are willing to stop at almost nothing to get you to do that.  They prefer webmail for one simple reason, it is the only way they can put advertising in your face and sell advertising to their advertising customers.

Any Microsoft provided email address will be subject to Microsoft's designs.  Most of my clients who were using a Microsoft mail service have switched away from it to Gmail.  Gmail is quite friendly to WLM.

I take it that your solution is to quit WLM.

It is outrageous that we should be forced to do so!

I was of the belief that my problem was my own incompetence.

I will ponder further in search of a solution from WINDOWS.
