UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK since we've got the ball rolling here, I am editing this to better reflect what is going on. The below links are just a few out of hundreds of post you will find on the internet about this Aero Lag. Some offer workarounds and some don't. I just Googled Aero Lag and this was from the first page.

If you have the same problem, please provide:

What type of graphics card you have.
What kind of drivers are you using (Win7 preinstalled or manufacturer's drivers)
Was your version of Win7 an update or clean install.
What motherboard you have.

From the sounds of it, Microsoft is looking for a fix.

I also ask for a forum admin to make this a sticky as many people are experiencing this problem.

**Have solved my problem withAeor lag.**Reinstall Windows 7 U64 twice with new/old driver.

Replaced Gforce 8800GTX with Gforce GTX480.

Have spent many days on this problem without a solution.

But here is a very simple solution that works for me.

I removed the USB extension cablefor my CreativeHS-1200WirelessUSB Gaming Headset.

Aero lags when Iused USB extension cable and headset charging.

Without USB extension cable, everything is fine.

So it think itis a voltagedrop in the USB extension cable,causes the system to lag. ?

why is it that my HP laptop with a Intel core due 2.1 GHz, intel graphics media accelerator 4500MHD with 1.3GB mem aero doesnt lag while my HP desktop AMD phenom quad, 8 GB ram, nvidia geforce 9100 3.6 GB of mem. windows 7 aero is lagging like crazy? my desktop has a 4.4 rating for aero and lags really bad and my laptop has a 3.7 rating for aero and there is no lag at all. Overall 4.4 for my desktop and 3.4 for my laptop

Don't feel stupid....it happens to the best of us.....We live and learn....now you know when you build a system or have someone build it for you to have them check that....

While your at it I would check for any other drivers (Sound Card (Soundblaster if you have it), NIC, or whatever extra stuff you have in that machine has up to date drivers installed... You would have figured out that something was wrong when you would try a game...3D game I mean..

Yeah....alot of time people think that oh, look windows installed drivers for me....is just a WDM driver that is certified to work with windows....sorta built into Windows 7 and Vista....but in reality its just a generic driver that does 2D just fine, but no 3D support..Glad I could help....now if Microsoft could only let its users know wtf is going on...istead of leaving us dry...

Thanks Chris, feeling a bit stupid now. Someone else has build it for me, and was sure this was taken care of. But you were right, getting the right drivers took care of my problems.

Hmm...yeah thats a beffy system..maybe a driver issue? Is that a custom built system?? Did you build it piece by piece? One question I may ask...if you did build it did you use the Video Card Driver disk that came with the XFX card? If you did then you should probably go to Ati.com and download the latest Radeon drivers for your card. If you just let windows install drivers then your not getting true 3D performace, there drivers are as basic as can be and dont really support 3D like Aero. Give that a try if you havn't done so already. Take a harder look at your HP at work and I bet you you'll see the little qwerk were talking about when closing out a window....its present in all systems I've tested....which is about 80% of the laptops at Best Buy and Frys....
