UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK since we've got the ball rolling here, I am editing this to better reflect what is going on. The below links are just a few out of hundreds of post you will find on the internet about this Aero Lag. Some offer workarounds and some don't. I just Googled Aero Lag and this was from the first page.

If you have the same problem, please provide:

What type of graphics card you have.
What kind of drivers are you using (Win7 preinstalled or manufacturer's drivers)
Was your version of Win7 an update or clean install.
What motherboard you have.

From the sounds of it, Microsoft is looking for a fix.

I also ask for a forum admin to make this a sticky as many people are experiencing this problem.

**Have solved my problem withAeor lag.**Reinstall Windows 7 U64 twice with new/old driver.

Replaced Gforce 8800GTX with Gforce GTX480.

Have spent many days on this problem without a solution.

But here is a very simple solution that works for me.

I removed the USB extension cablefor my CreativeHS-1200WirelessUSB Gaming Headset.

Aero lags when Iused USB extension cable and headset charging.

Without USB extension cable, everything is fine.

So it think itis a voltagedrop in the USB extension cable,causes the system to lag. ?

I have never seen a Windows 7 system without the open/close lag. Not in real life and not in a slow motion video on the web. So I guess, every Windows 7 system has this lag. Everybody will see it, when you look close enough or when you do the slow motion trick. Two persons here went to best buy and every Windows 7 PC they tested had this open/close lag. I also tested a computer in a computer shop and the open/close lag was there. So the problem is real.

I turned the animations off, but that's not satisfying.

All brand new fresh-out-of-the-box components. Win 7 Ultimate 64 Bit, Asus P7P55D EVO, Intel Core i5 750, XFX HD5770 1GB, Corsair 4GB DDR3, WD 500GB SataII.

Stutter on open and close of apps.

Maximize and minimize working fine.

Also, mouse wheel scrolling seems a bit choppy. I don't know if this is a defect or just browser rendering behavior.

All brand new fresh-out-of-the-box components. Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit, Sony VPCL116FX/B, Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8400 @ 2.66GHz, 6GB RAM, 500GB HD + and no problems what so ever. This machine is an all in one, touch screen, and I still have no problems with it. You would think that there would be some trouble with the system given that the whole screen is touch sensitive, but there is NONE, period. Breathing a sigh of relief.

I have the same annoying problem too,on 4-5 completely different pcs (laptop and desktop PCs). Clean install of course,everything updated so far and the lag is there. Actually there are other things i've noticed in Windows 7. If i listen to a song with whatever program the GUI begins lagging; open a song and navigate through the taskbar previews for instance to see a noticeable lag. The absurd thing is that the the lag doesn't seem to happen with Google Chrome opened while navigating on the net,or appears less. I have a very good system but i noticed the same thing on every pc i've used,these are the annoyances which are not making me enjoying completely Windows 7 yet. We have powerful systems why should we have these laggy GUIs? Apple for instance is obsessed with this lol anyway i hope for a fix anytime soon.
