UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK since we've got the ball rolling here, I am editing this to better reflect what is going on. The below links are just a few out of hundreds of post you will find on the internet about this Aero Lag. Some offer workarounds and some don't. I just Googled Aero Lag and this was from the first page.

If you have the same problem, please provide:

  1. What type of graphics card you have.
  2. What kind of drivers are you using (Win7 preinstalled or manufacturer's drivers)
  3. Was your version of Win7 an update or clean install.
  4. What motherboard you have.

From the sounds of it, Microsoft is looking for a fix.

I also ask for a forum admin to make this a sticky as many people are experiencing this problem.

**Have solved my problem withAeor lag.**Reinstall Windows 7 U64 twice with new/old driver.

Replaced Gforce 8800GTX with Gforce GTX480.

Have spent many days on this problem without a solution.

But here is a very simple solution that works for me.

I removed the USB extension cablefor my CreativeHS-1200WirelessUSB Gaming Headset.

Aero lags when Iused USB extension cable and headset charging.

Without USB extension cable, everything is fine.

So it think itis a voltagedrop in the USB extension cable,causes the system to lag. ?

    You lucky thing! I see my specific open/close lag every single time I open a window. If I open 100 windows, I see 100 lags. Only 1(?) percent of the closing windows seems to be without stutters, because the closing animation is so fast. (but only in real time, in slow motion the open lag and also the close lag is everytime there)

    The Vista animation is everytime smooth, 0 stutters in real time, 0 stutters in slow motion, 0 closing stutters, 0 opening stutters.

    edit: @unknowntbeast: Maybe you had only a driver problem or something like that. Do you really have no stuttering at all? Even when you do the slow motion trick and close windows?

    Well I found the topic on page six. Just bumping it back up to the top.

    I don't know why, but I haven't had any lag at all in the past 2 days.

    I have the same issue.  Just like the youtube videos, it is only affecting W7's open/close, not minimize/maximize (at least for me).  In Vista, open/close is silky smooth, and that is what it should be. 

    From the slowmo it appears that it lacks few frames to make the transition smooth, "stutter" or "jump" as some people described it.  This can't be intended because an UI must let users feel comfortable, this definitely is not pleasing to look at.  It annoys even more when closing, because it just don't feel right, and it induces a feeling that there is a lag in the system.  

    I've read this problem had been brought up early by beta testers, but it never got addressed, and now it carries into Final (/shake head).  So either this is video driver problem or open/close animation code within the OS, they need to get it fixed soon.

    OK, well maybe I am the only one with min/max stutter and open/close. My original thought was that everyone else was having the same issue. Maybe it is all connected. Maybe my lag is just manafesiting in another way. Who really knows...but perhaps if there is a fix for the open/close, perhaps it will fix the min/max issue as well.

    Also how could I change my IRQ's when Windows greys out the option? (<---Just an idea.)
