Window Update error "WindowsUpdate_0000066A" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"

Windows update is failing when attempting to install SQL Server SP3 (KB955706). I installed the service pack manually but still receive the same error from Windows update. I assumed the error would disappear when Windows Update saw that the service pack was already installed. Does anyone know how I can eliminate this error message?

try this it worked for me

 Go to control panel click PROGRAMS then PROGRAMS AND FEATURES locate MICROSOFT .NET FRAMEWORK 4 CLIENT PROFILE double click on it a window will pop up choose REPAIR .NET FRAMEWORK 4 CLIENT PROFILE click next & foliow instrutions ,when finished try to run update again ,I tryed everything else but this realy worked.

My suggestion would be to try and empty the Software Distribution folder.

Empty the software distribution folder

1.     Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

Note On a Windows Vista-based computer, click Start, type services.msc in the Start Search box, right-click services.msc, and then click Run as administrator.

2.     In the Services (Local) pane, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Stop.

3.     Minimize the Services (local) window.

4.     Select all the contents of the Windows distribution folder, and then delete them.

Note By default, the Windows distribution folder is located in the drive:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder. In this location, drive is a placeholder for the drive where Windows is installed.

5.     Make sure that the Windows distribution folder is empty, and then maximize the Services (local) window.

6.     In the Services (Local) pane, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Start.

7.     Restart the computer, and then run Windows Update again.

Please let us know if this helps at all and if you still receive the above error message.

    You are correct. 

    There is no such Service listing as "Automatic Updates".  I believe the Microsofot rep meant to indicate "Windows Update" as the correct service listing.  Right click on "Windows Update" and choose "Stop" then continue with the procedure as stated.

    PS - If you go to Program and Features within your control panel and see the listing for**Microsoft NET Framework 1.1,**click it then see if you can choose the uninstall/change option in the control panel.  I've tried to uninstall and I receive the error:  "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed".  This apparently indicates the update won't install as the reigstry shows it is already there when in fact it may not.  I suspect this is the reason why the the Update won't install at least in my case.  I used the Microssoft Clean Up Utlity and sadly it doesn't show this listing so that I can reattempt the update.  i've yet to find a solution for my debacle.
