Click on START, Control Panel, Programs, Programs and Features

On the left hand side there is an option that says, "Turn Windows features on or off"  click that.

Click the plus sign next to Games, and you should see FreeCell there with no check mark next to it.  Click it so there IS a check mark.  Hit Ok, and it should reinstall.

Try unchecking it.  Saying Ok to everything and getting out of it.  Then go back in.  Check it, and see if it installs properly.

Keep in mind, if you are on a work PC, it is possible that your employer has stripped Freecell (And other games) from the PC.  They can do this through Group Policy Security settings among other methods.  Regardless if you try and install it again won't matter as the settings will keep it from installing, working, running.

However, if it is a home based PC, you should be able to uncheck and then get out, and then go back in and recheck it.  And it should install.  If not, you may have a more serious problem.

    Hi John:

I just posted how to re-install "Free Cell"

and is very easy in W-7

    But you have Windows XP,

you can try, but I do not know if it works.

But it goes again (Shorter version)

right click in any Microsoft game that you have in your Desk as a short cut

It will appear a list and  in one of the list says "Open file Location"

It will open a page with all the games in your computer

find "Free cell" to open and bring a short cut to your desk

    Is that easy

But again I do not know if it will work on XP

    Good Luck

    Raul
