Windows Live Mail error: "One or more of the pictures in this message could not be found. When you send this message these pictures will not be included. Are you sure you want to send this message?"

I understand you are having issue forwarding an email with a picture because of that error message you are getting.

By the way, are you using a Microsoft account? If yes, try to send or forward that email using the web and see if it will work without any problem.

Since you have mentioned that you are able to save that image fine, provide us here the details of that picture like the file type and size.

This issue was fixed for some customers by security updates. Please make sure that you have the latest Windows updates installed. Once done, you need to reboot your computer for the updates to take effect

That was the first thing I did mate.  Nope, no progress.  As I wrote previously, I suspect the issue originate with the setup the person who sends the email to you/me is using, rather than necessarily with my set-up.

For example, from time to time two contacts of mine send me emails with embedded pictures.  With one of them, I can simply forward the message, edit it and then resend it to someone else, and the picture(s) are sent OK.  However, messages from the other contact don't work like that.  I can see the picture fine, but if I try and forward a message from this contact to someone else I get the error message that says "one or more pictures on this message are not included... blah blah".  If you ignore the message and send it anyway the picture is missing.

The strange thing is that with these emails, I can still save the message to a file - say the desktop, then forward the text, attach the picture and send, but the picture appears as an attachment and not as an embedded picture like it was originally.  If I try and copy the picture and paste it back in, I still get the 'picture not included' error.

What I don't understand is why if I can save the picture without problems I can't just forward the picture without any messing about.  It didn't used to be like this with Outlook Express, so why Microsoft changed the arrangement I have no idea.

I'm running WLM on W7 32bit with AVG.  I may be wrong but I don't think that's the problem as plenty of other people seem to be having the same issue.

Pity the 'solution' was no good for you.  Wild idea to try out. Check the empty box and close down WML.  Re-open WML and then uncheck the box.  Give it a go and don't hold your breath.

BTW I'm running windows 7 Pro 64 bit and have just uninstalled Avast which was giving me all kinds of grief (see the Avast forums).

I found the checkbox already unchecked.

The problem seems not to be that there's anything wrong with the way my copy of WLM is set up, it's that whoever might have sent me the message doesn't have it set up so that the picture is forwardable. 

The really stupid thing is that the picture is in the mail file, because you can save it to the desktop (for example) and then attach it to a message and forward it to someone else, but you can't just forward the message as-is, and you can't copy and past the same picture back into the same message to forward it on to someone else.

Which dim-wit decided this was a good idea for the entire "Microsoft community".  Seems to me that ever time Microsoft does an 'upgrade' on its mail program things actually move backwards.  No wonder they're losing out hand over fist to Apple.

I found the following procedure dealt with my picture problem:

Open WML.  Click on the Down arrow at the extreme left end of the Ribbon.

Click 'Options'.  Click 'Mail'.    A row of Tabs will be shown.  Click on 'Compose'.

Half way down there is message 'Convert messages to photo emails etc.' with a check box.

Clear the check box (by clicking on it and removing the tick mark).

Click 'Apply' at the page bottom and close down WML.

RE-open WML and send the offending message to yourself.

You should now be able to send the message complete with the embedded picture(s).
