How do I disable the Windows 7 Magnifier?

How do I disable Windows 7 Magnifier all together? It have the check box unchecked for starting at startup but my mouse button still starts it. I use to use that button for something else and Windows will not let me map it to the other application.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi wil2liv,

Thank you for using the Answers forum,

Give this a try:

Click on the Start button

All Programs

Accessories

Ease of Access Center

Then click on 'Make the computer easier to use' near the bottom.

Then unchecked 'Turn On Magnifier'. Hit OK and you're done.

    so when you said "easier still is to toggle the forward auxillary button on the mouse" you meant easier for those who have newer mice with more than 2 buttons right? :-)But I have one of those newer mice and the fact is - if you disable it the correct way which is by using the "Ease of Access Center" you won't have to worry about "toggling" the switch on the mouse which reactivates it......  In other words it won't matter if you "accidently" hit the toggle button if it's disconnected correctly from the ease of access center.KEVIN's answer is THE RIGHT ANSWER for WINDOWS 7! Steve - it's good that you figured out that option before too much time passed. For some though if the problem isn't resolved for a week or more,  a system restore will not work.

    Of course, it's just my opinion....I could be wrong!

    Fine for those who want to disable the feature permanently but not all might want to disable it in that way. They might just want it out of the way. Equally, many don't know that the forward auxilliary button on their mouse can do this..

    Actually, i had this problem too. Turned off the magnifier in ease of access center twice, and then it showed up again.

    It turns out, i had windows update the mouse software on windows 7, suddenly activating the right side button on my wireless laser mouse!

    So, here's my tip, if you have one of these mice or similar it could be the solution for your problem: 

    1. Go to control panel -> Mouse properties
    2. Set the right side button's from default to disabled:

    To ALL,

    I have gotten Magnifier Turned Off by finding Another place in Windows 7 that it was turned on in. So, I have my problem taken care of. Thanks to all, but I had to figure it myself. Goodbye and God Day
