How do I disable the Windows 7 Magnifier?

How do I disable Windows 7 Magnifier all together? It have the check box unchecked for starting at startup but my mouse button still starts it. I use to use that button for something else and Windows will not let me map it to the other application.

Any help would be appreciated.

Give this a try:

Click on the Start button

All Programs

Accessories

Ease of Access Center

Then click on 'Make the computer easier to use' near the bottom.

Then unchecked 'Turn On Magnifier'. Hit OK and you're done.

    There are already a lot of replies on here; about 5 of those methods I tried and none worked for me. What I did was:

    -right click

    -go to Personalize

    -go to Display (left column)

    -go to Adjust Resolution (left column)

    -play around with the adjustment and you'll erase the annoying effects of Magnifier. On the first try, I made things too small instead but after adjusting again, it's all back to normal!

    Found this thread because I just freshly loaded Win7 onto an older PC and could not get rid of the dreaded magnify spyglass. 

    When I was installing I left the non-microsoft wireless mouse connected and was surprised that it worked during setup. The Ease of Access magnifier was turned off. Didn't try really hard to rename the file in System32. Got the feeling it wasn't as much a windows feature problem as it was a mouse driver problem. So I connected a wired MS Mouse which loaded the Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse software. I then deleted the wireless mouse from the Device Manager, pulled out the wireless receiver and removed the OEM software I loaded after Win7 was installed. And --**presto**-- the dreaded magnify has been tamed. I will wait a few days finishing the rebuild before going back to the wireless mouse.

    Actually, 'Turn On Magnifier' is under 'Make the computer easier to see'
