How do I disable the Windows 7 Magnifier?

i went to the computer store where i purchased mu lap top and they stop the magnifer by doing this

click on start

right click on magnifier

click on propertys

click on security

click on administrater account   or user ascc.

click on edit

click on administation

click all deny buttons(click first one all will have check marks)

click apply

click ok

click ok

now if u go to start and click on magnifier it wll tell u it is disabled

OK.... so  I turned on the magifier assuming the turn it on check box would turn into a turn it off check box...it didn't.

Then I closed the window where I activated it from and spent 5 minutes looking for it again.

Then I found that there was no turn it off check box.

Then I looked up the forum entries and found there was no provision for doing it without using brute force.

Then I, the administrator an sole user of the machine tried to change the name of the file and was denied by the trustedinstaller gatekeeper even though I was administrator on the machine...probably should not have tried to change the extension of the file, should have tried to change the name of the file first.

Then in desperation I went into the task manager and found a process called magnify.exe and killed it outright.

At this point it disappeared. I now know what to do if it comes back as suggested by the entries above.....

The magnify window needs to behave like any other window. It does not have a kill location built onto it, and it should. The check box should also change to off automatically in the window where it is activated. Or it shouldn't be in the software. I am sure that someone gets some use out of this, but its more than useless when you cant turn it off for the rest of us.....calculating that 100,000 people spend an hour trying to figure this out you have a 100,000 person hours divided by 40 hours per week equals 2,500 work weeks, or 50 person work years at 50 weeks per year at an average salary of 40,000, the cost of this kind of software is 2 million dollars....what was the programming team paid?? I don't know, but apparently not enough.....

After trying numerous answers that did not fix the problem, I followed this track and now the offensive button does Nothing, just like I wanted.  should have thought of default mouse settings in the first place

I have a MS notebook wireless laser mouse 6000, and haven't used it for months; but, my left click button on the touch pad is sticking, so the last two days I have been using it. This blasted magnifier has popped up seven or eight times, the first two times I lost resumes I was posting online because it confused me... I had no idea. Finally I found this page, and of course, the answer marked "best" is not... as others have pointed out. I then went to "mouse" on the control panel... and there was a button identified as the "magnifier button... well, I did not see any unusual buttons, left, right, wheel... which is also a button, then after following several of the suggestions here, at my left thumb, in my right hand, there is a small button, right on the edge... So now I knew what to disable; but, more importantly, what to avoid, and how to undo it... I will keep my thumb off the button, except when I might want/needs it... and that fixes it for me. Thanks for this forum. I appreciate all the suggestions.
