Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings

Recently, I have noticed a small caution triangle appearing with my network icon on the task bar. When I right click and troubleshoot, it comes with this message. Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings. My internet has been very slow lately, but I'm wondering if this is a problem with my network? or is this something that my ISP has to fix?

(This post is intended for all reporting the problem)

Check Internet Options (from Control Panel or Internet Explorer Tools / Options  /Connections Tab / LAN Settings and make sure Proxy Server is unchecked even if using Firefox.  Check settings in Firefox in Tools / Options /Advanced Connections / Settings  (should be either use system proxy settings or no proxy).

Check for malware especially using malwarebytes.

Try  these two commands in that order in an elevated command prompt.  Do the first one first then reboot and try.  If still bad try the second.

netsh winsock reset

netsh int ipv4 reset

If these don't help, please post the output of an ipconfig /all command

I had the same problem this morning--couldn't connect on one computer but could on the other.  Got the same message about not being able to detect the proxy settings.  However, I used System Restore to reverse some changes that had happened during the night and that corrected the problem.

    I'm getting this error but only on IE 

    firefox and chrome connect just fine.

    win 7 pro   IE11

    Cannot see to find how to just reply without replying to a previous post?

    Anyway, my wife's PC running 8.1 with a WiFi USB adaptor is now doing this, worked fine yesterday and nothing changed or installed.

    I have done everything in this thread to no avail.

    System Restore = No Change

    Run CMD as Admin and winsock & ipv4 (get the same error as the user who posted a pic of it did - access denied) = No Change

    Reset Device via disable / re-enable = No Change

    Tried different USB ports and 2 different WiFi dongles = No Change

    Scanned with Malwarebytes = No Change

    This is just getting ridiculous now and this type of issue should never happen in our age of connectivity.

    I am pretty well versed in computers when it comes to both hardware and software troubleshooting however I am even at a loss for how this happened and how to correct it.

    Any help is appreciated!

    I've tried everything has been said here and nothing has worked yet. As others I am really frustrated after expending several hours trying to get over this really annoying issue. But just move on. So what else I can do?. Not sure if this problem is related to Java or Bitdefender. After updating them I stared having problems with my internet connectivity. Could be? Also I surfed a little and some people say this problem could be related to a new virus that affects the proxy....!!? 

    Please help. being dealing with this for more than 15 days o.O
