Original Title: I have Microsoft Windows 7 though the windows installer is not working correctly. How can I install the windows installer 5.0 or ensure it is working?

  1. What is the issue with Windows Installer?
  2. Do you have any issues installing any program?
  3. Do you get any error message related to Windows Installer?

We cannot install Windows Installer 5.0 as it is the default version in Windows 7. If you can provide us more details about the issue, then we can assist you better.

If Windows Installer is malfunctioning, then try to Unregister Windows Installer, and then reregister Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:

a. Click Start, type cmd, right click cmd and click run as administrator.

b. On the command prompt, type "msiexec /unreg" and then press ENTER.

c. On the command prompt, type "msiexec /regserver" and then press ENTER.

d. Check the difference.

    I took up this problem with a Microsoft Tech and he had to reinstall Windows 7 which he upgraded me to Windows 7 Ultimate. That is the only way to get it to work.

    Unfortunately that isn't an option for me. My stuff came preloaded on my laptop so I dont have a disc and I can't afford to buy a new one. At this rate I'm going to have to scrap the computer. I cant upload anything and now the computer is no good to me. The way everything updates I can't use things I need for school now. I hate windows

    My stuff was preloaded also. I first emailed a Microsoft Tech and described my problems, he gave me several things to do in several emails. None of them worked so he told me another Microsoft Tech guy would call me and do remote fixes to the problem. In those fixes (for free and all the communication with this Tech was free) he installed Microsoft 7 Ultimate (for free). I also had no discs and the new Windows is validated as well. This took about a week for him to fix because of our schedules. I also had another issue with downloading some of the Microsoft updates. That's why it took so long.

    If you can email Microsoft for help it may lead you to talking directly to a Tech like it did me and he can do all the fixes remotely. It was really fascinating to see my computer taken over by someone else.
