Original Title: I have Microsoft Windows 7 though the windows installer is not working correctly. How can I install the windows installer 5.0 or ensure it is working?

  1. What is the issue with Windows Installer?
  2. Do you have any issues installing any program?
  3. Do you get any error message related to Windows Installer?

We cannot install Windows Installer 5.0 as it is the default version in Windows 7. If you can provide us more details about the issue, then we can assist you better.

If Windows Installer is malfunctioning, then try to Unregister Windows Installer, and then reregister Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:

a. Click Start, type cmd, right click cmd and click run as administrator.

b. On the command prompt, type "msiexec /unreg" and then press ENTER.

c. On the command prompt, type "msiexec /regserver" and then press ENTER.

d. Check the difference.

    Same problem here.

    I have been plagued with it for about 3 months, I have tried everything. Nothing helps. 

    I get error code 2503 and 2502 in every program I try to install.  I can't even open C:\Windows\Installer because it shows access denied. 

    I just can't believe there isn't some kind of solution for this problem or some way to get rid of this.

    Why would they do that when they want to get rid of Windows 7??  Microsoft couldn't care less about the needs or preferences of their customers.   Just like the government anymore- we are all petulant children who don't know what's best for them.
