Original Title: I have Microsoft Windows 7 though the windows installer is not working correctly. How can I install the windows installer 5.0 or ensure it is working?

What is the issue with Windows Installer?
Do you have any issues installing any program?
Do you get any error message related to Windows Installer?

We cannot install Windows Installer 5.0 as it is the default version in Windows 7. If you can provide us more details about the issue, then we can assist you better.

If Windows Installer is malfunctioning, then try to Unregister Windows Installer, and then reregister Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:

a. Click Start, type cmd, right click cmd and click run as administrator.

b. On the command prompt, type "msiexec /unreg" and then press ENTER.

c. On the command prompt, type "msiexec /regserver" and then press ENTER.

d. Check the difference.

No I never found an installer 5.0. It doesn't exist.

What I ended up having to do was save everything I absolutely needed on a disc. I then got someone to hook me up with what is basically a starter disc. It is the disc the factory sends with the laptop. So I basically had to erase everything and reboot it and start my computer from scratch.

It sucked big time and pissed me off. This of course created a whole other problem on my computer that I am dealing with since it apparently was downloaded improperly.

Someone tell me again why we have computers?!?

Tried all of this do you know where on the cd I can exact it from w7 pro cd or download it from?

I have done a lot including take ownership of trusted installer and then renaming the msiexec.exe

msi.dll and msihnd.dll tried various websites from previous versions then and unreg and registering it.

Now after tring various things when I try to start it I get

"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)

Oh I'm so excited that worked for you, but, I have a question. Is it ok for me to ask how do you clone and what is SSD drive on E. I apologize I am not that savvy on computers, but, have been looking for a solution for 4 months and would like to try your fix, but, am limited on computer knowledge. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I seem to be having an issue with windows installer.

I had to restore my computer to factory settings, and after I did this I now get error code 2503 and/or 2502 when trying to install iTunes or update Java.

My computer is currently up-to-date with all updates. I am running Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium.

I have tried to install by right-clicking the .exe and selecting "Run as administrator."

I have seen other suggestions that say to check Windows Installer, but I have searched for this on the computer and cannot find anything called Windows Installer.

My research has led me to believe that it might be a problem with windows installer as I have gotten the same error codes in other programs I have attempted to install.

I tried the solution you provided above, but it did not work.
