Windows 7 Aero Disabled - How can I enable it again?

I purchased a new HP Envy 15 which had Windows 7 installed in it.  Aero was activated.  A few days later, Aero has been somehow disabled and I can't activate it again.  I used the Troubleshooting utility in Windows 7 for Aero -- it says that nothing is wrong.  I also tried un-checking and checking the various options in the visual effects menu.

Can somebody please help me?  I'm not sure when or how Aero was disabled; the computer did crash and went blank once, and I had to reboot.  I'm not sure if that disabled Aero.

Thanks.

Actually, I just found another thread on the HP website (  http://www.thenextbench.com/t5/HP-Envy-Notebooks/seems-that-all-my-Envy-15-problems-are-not-unique/m-p/50174 ) that reveals that the Aero problems on the Envy 15 are a commmon situation.

The suggested solution is uninstalling stardock.

I uninstalled Stardock and my Aero problem was instantlly fixed

. . . and HP tech support wanted me to do a System recovery/system restore--good grief!!

Please check that the below system setting are appearing in the Visual effect of your system.

If the same is not appearing.

Install the latest Graphic drivers for you system get the system restarted and check the same.

    This will resolve your problem.

Note: If you are taking a remote of the system you will be able to see only very limited options in Visual effects. Hence in case of supporting a remote user take remote through Team Viewer, Ammy Admin or SCCM tool.

You are a godsend. I was having trouble with overclocking my FX-6300 (Via AMD Catalyst) and this worked perfectly.

    hi all

i have found the problem at my pc after trying stuff for hours.

i actually had "Air Display" installed. its for an iOS app to make a 2nd screen out of your ipad.

so my screen showed 32bit, but i guess the 2nd one, which was not shown to me in any way, had somehow 16bit for the ipad.

so i uninstalled Air Display and it works perfectly.

an easy way to find out, if your pc thinks there is some kind of another display around, just try to dock a window on the left or right side. if it doesnt dock, your pc thinks there is another display.
