Windows 7 Aero Disabled - How can I enable it again?

I purchased a new HP Envy 15 which had Windows 7 installed in it.  Aero was activated.  A few days later, Aero has been somehow disabled and I can't activate it again.  I used the Troubleshooting utility in Windows 7 for Aero -- it says that nothing is wrong.  I also tried un-checking and checking the various options in the visual effects menu.  

Can somebody please help me?  I'm not sure when or how Aero was disabled; the computer did crash and went blank once, and I had to reboot.  I'm not sure if that disabled Aero.

Actually, I just found another thread on the HP website (  http://www.thenextbench.com/t5/HP-Envy-Notebooks/seems-that-all-my-Envy-15-problems-are-not-unique/m-p/50174 ) that reveals that the Aero problems on the Envy 15 are a commmon situation.

The suggested solution is uninstalling stardock.

I uninstalled Stardock and my Aero problem was instantlly fixed

. . . and HP tech support wanted me to do a System recovery/system restore--good grief!!

    Just try this ...

    Force Enable Aero in Windows 7

    1. Click on Start and type regedit at run

     

    1. Now Navigate to the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM

     

    1. In the right details pane, create following Three DWORD (32-bit value) entry

    UseMachineCheck, and set its value to 0.

    Blur, and set its value to 0.

    Animations, and set its value to 0.

     

    1. Close Regedit

     

    1. Click on Start and type CMD with administrative Priviliges

     

    1. Now type following command

    Net Stop uxsms

    Net Start uxsms

    Above command will stop and start Desktop Window Manager Session Manager.

     

    1. Now you can turn on Aero by right clicking on desktop-> Personalize -> Select Windows ColorsThanksRenjith

    I have a PC and I have windows 7 ultimate in it. I have a 1GB graphic card installed and aero was working fine till I installed Internet Explorer 10 in it. I tried troubleshooting and found an error message saying "Desktop Window Manager stopped Working" and I do get a popup window on the startup saying the same. I did not make any hardware changes to my PC and about software Changes its the IE10 and Visual Studio  2013. But the issue started only after installing IE10. I tried this but this did not seem to work out. Please help me.
