Up until now I am not able to send/receive messages from my windows mail account.  When I went to bed lst night it was fine.  When I hit the send/receive button I get the following "Please verify that both the username and password are correct for your mail server".  Nothing has been changed since I turned off my pc last night.  Can someone please tell me why this is happening all of the sudden?

I have read similiar posts to my issue, it doesn't seem that the prior posts were any assistance.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

The error code 800ccc90 indicates "IXP_E_POP3_RESPONSE_ERROR" which assentially means that there was a invalid response recieved from the pop3 server. This might be a temporary issue with the mail server. Since the username and password has not changed and no changes had been made on teh client end, it is recommended that you wait for sometime and if the error continues contact the mail server support. Also you may want to check for any other errors reported in eventvwr.

TIP: Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It may be causing the error & provides no
*additional* protection anyway.

    I have had this same error too intermittently.

    ////////////

    Server Error: 0x800CCC90

    Server Response: -ERR Cannot connect to POP server 209.86.93.205

    ////////////

    I was not able to send/receive e-mail; disabled my Avast for 10 minutes, and then my e-mail would transmit after I click on the send/receive button.  I guess that Avast and WLM do not play well together.   I am sure that many of you already know that Avast has a feature called Mail Shield for malware protection and probably other things.  Guessing that it is running some check in the background.

    OK folks, let's all take a deep breath here - as I had to. Isn't it funny that after solving an irritation such as this you think, "Hey, I've achieved something," rather than, "Hey, I've just lost an hour of my life."

    Symptom were the same: email working in client programme then repeated asking for email address/password. Deleted account, remade, POP, IMAP, virus scan, 800ccc90/2, blah, blah. I'd checked server settings, created new accounts, reset passwords, you name it.

    In the end, the fix was so simple; the clue was that it had been working perfectly before. Away from home, my client had logged in to his yahoo! account using a web browser instead of WLM and had not logged out, i.e. he had saved his username and password in the browser. Once we logged out of his online profile, WLM starts behaving itself, no longer asking for username and password and giving red x's with error codes. Big smiles followed.

    Try it. Use a web browser to access you email online. If your browser doesn't have you enter a username and password and takes you straight to your account, sign out of your account online then try your email programme again. Fingers crossed.

    All the best
