Everything on my computer screen is appearing larger than normal

I unplugged my computer about 4 days ago to take it on a trip with me. When I restarted my computer everything on my computer screen including my background, icons, websites, aim, etc. showed up larger and more distorted than normal. The zoom level is at a normal 100%. This has happened in the past but once I restarted my computer, my screen has always gone back to normal. I would like to know how to fix this problem because I have restarted my computer about 3 or 4 times but everything that appears on my screen is still distorted and larger than normal.

 Thank you for using Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

 If you haven't tried the steps below, give this a try.

1/ Right Click on a vacant part of the desktop

2/ From the Drop Down menu, Click the View option

3/ In the View context menu, Click one of the following options:

  • Large Icons
  • Medium Icons
  • Classic Icons

The Classic Icons option will reduce the size the most.  Please let me know if that has resolved your issue or if you are still having any problems.

    I found a solution on the Community site of Microsoft and it worked! 

    It is the solution that had me go into the Device Manager and into the Display Adapter settings.  I uninstalled and deleted the driver associated with my display adapter (22.19.128).  Restarted the computer.  Scanned for hardware changes in the Device Manager and lo and behold the display adapter driver changed to what was needed (8.970.100.9001).  My screen has returned to normal.  Additionally I now have the rollback option highlighted in the Display Adapter settings and my display resolution has changed to 1920 x 1080.

    Hope this helps someone else.

    My solution to magnification was to take computer to local computer repair person.. He spent an unsuccessful hour attempting a fix. Finally decided to replace my aging 7 year old hard drive and reinstall Windows 10.  Problem solved and  other operating aspects improved as well. Thank you all for your courtesies and input.

    Everything on my computer is larger, not just the start screen. All screens that I clink on are larger. HELP.

    This is not the only solution. Take a look at the threads at this link. But this worked for me.

    a) Start with "Get Help" for the Virtual Assistant feature

    b) Type in your problem and you will get an answer

    c) You will be asked the answer provided helped

    d) Answer "NO" and you will be offered a live chat, take it!

    E) Agent will need access to  your PC. I let him do that after getting a 6 digit code enabling the Agent's connection.

    Basic problem is that a "video driver" has been loaded (updated?) and activated causing  the increased magnification.  This "driver" needs to be deleted and your earlier version with the proper magnification be reactivated.  Agent should make sure that your "driver" is the only one left so that it doesn't happen again. by deleting the offending "driver(s)"

    Should be no charge for this service.
