How do I get Classic Folder Icons Back?

How can I get back the folder icons from windows xp?  I need my folder icons to be flat square folders, which I can customize with one photo from inside the folder shown on the front?  These open folders sitting sideways with documents and pictures falling out, are driving me crazy.  I work with thousands of photos every day and need a quick simple way to identify what is inside each folder.  Now I have to spend hours opening each folder and looking through the photos...such a waste of time.  Why is such a simple folder icon gone in Windows 7?  I need it back!

Hello, I’m afraid that changing the file displayed/icon would be the closest choices for customizing the folder in the way you would like, short of possible third party tweaks.

If this is a feature you would like reinstated, please leave your suggestion at Windows 7 Feedback.

    That's absolutely right!  Choice is essential.  All we are asking for is a simple choice THAT WE USED TO HAVE...but has been taken away for "progress"

    People rely on their folders of pictures to do work...very simple.

    People rely on the ability to clearly see what is in their thousands of folders of pictures quickly...to do their work....very simple.

    Simple request for lots of people to get their work done the old way, with the old folder icons

    Change is wonderful.  Choice is essential.  Change without choice is is the issue.  I like the classic folder icon and would rather use it.  I don't like the new design, so I chose a custom icon.  The classic folder is not a choice.  It wouldn't have been very difficult to make the classic folder an option.  If the classic folder was an option, there would only be information given to customers who wanted the classic folders.  Providing customers with choices is rewarded with loyalty.  Change without choice makes customers look elsewhere.  Ultimately, you who provide the product  reap the consequences of your choices.
