Windows 7 Preview Pane not working

Hi everybody,

It seems that I've some kind of problem with the PREVIEW PANE of the EXPLORER which only works for pictures and not for others type of files ( for video it only shows a pic, doesn't work for .txt, .pdf etc).

Would you know how to fix this problem ?

Here you go,

In Windows Explorer, click Organize / Folder and Search options / View Tab.

Remove the Check Mark from the Always show Icons never Thumbnails option.

Click Apply / OK.

    Did as you say here Mark and it returned message there were some problems it couldn't fix and to look at cbs.log file for information.  I looked at that file and the only word there was Finish!

    And I still have the problem of no preview. Some file types (wordperfect) it says no preview available. Others it says nothing at all.

    Well, after doing all the fixes above, I went back to the "Organize" drop down menu, selected "Layout" and checked "Preview Pane",

    walla!  it worked! The simplest solution that I've seen.....

    In my case it was already unchecked - so I checked it, then a few minutes later unchecked it again - and problem solved!

    That worked for me too. Thanks so much. I keep a lot of tabs open while working. Now I can see where I'm at!

    I see I'm late to the party.  

     (Win7 Pro /O365, not previewing .xls/.xlsx/.doc/.docx, with an error message that we can't see, the window is truncated)

    So far on one of my users' machines I've tried the Organize/view options, the sfc /scannow, repairing (Online repair) of Office, repairing Adobe Reader, changing the preview pane to be on/off/on. 

    Have not tried the Prevhost.exe test.

    Will do that next and report back.
