Windows 7 Preview Pane not working

Hi everybody,

It seems that I've some kind of problem with the PREVIEW PANE of the EXPLORER which only works for pictures and not for others type of files ( for video it only shows a pic, doesn't work for .txt, .pdf etc).

Would you know how to fix this problem ?

Here you go,

In Windows Explorer, click Organize / Folder and Search options / View Tab.

Remove the Check Mark from the Always show Icons never Thumbnails option.

Click Apply / OK.

    Here you go,

    In Windows Explorer, click Organize / Folder and Search options / View Tab.

    OK, I hate to toss a wrench into your happy party, but none of the solutions here offered have worked for me. I've tried the removing check mark from the "always show icons never thumbnails" option and it does not work. 

    I'm having the problem only with pdf files. everything else previews OK.

    Before you tell me to go to Adobe and install latest version of Reader, I've already done that, and it does nothing for me.

    I can open the pdf files. I used to be able to see a small preview on the thumbnails, and when I selected them in explorer, I could preview them in the preview pane - even scroll through the document pages.

    Now, none of that works for pdfs.

    Please don't give me one of those idiotic answers that assumes I am an idiot and haven't tried anything.

    This worked for me.

    Preview was working fine on all files up until today, when I noticed it has stopped working. After trying various 'shot in the dark' techniques posted by others, that were all unsuccessful, I thought of my own solution. All I needed to do was kill the Explorer task and restart it. Job done!

    Makes absolutely no difference and has nothing to do with the preview pane on the right.
