Windows Update Error Code 8024A000

Hi,

 When i try to take the updates, its throwing the error 8024A000.

Not to able get wats the reason

Help me out

The Windows Update Error Code 8024A000 means WU E AU NOSERVICE. This is translated as AU was unable to service incoming AU calls.

I would like for you to perform general Troubleshooting steps for Windows Update.

General Windows Update Troubleshooting

The following outlines how to stop services pertaining to Windows Update, rename system folders, register related DLL files, and then restart the previously mentioned services. This troubleshooting generally applies to all Windows Update related issues.

Stopping services pertaining to Windows Update

1.     Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator.

2.     If you receive a notification from User Account Control simply click Continue.

3.     At the command prompt, type the following, commands and then press ENTER after each command.

net stop wuauserv         net stop bits

net stop cryptsvc

4.     Please do not close the Command Prompt window.

Renaming folders pertaining to Windows Update

1.     At the command prompt, type the following commands, and then press Enter after each command:

2.     ren %systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 Catroot2.old

3.     ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

4.     Please do not close the Command Prompt window.

Registering DLL’s pertaining to Windows Update

1.     Please copy and paste the following text into a new Notepad document, and save the file as WindowsUpdate.BAT

2.     If saved correctly the icon will change from a Notepad file to BAT file which has two blue cogs as its icon.

3.     You can manually type each command at the command prompt:

4.     Now please check for updates using Windows Update to see if the issue has been resolved.

    I have had this problem for a while, and I am not closer to a solution. I tried the solutions that are posted here, but they don't really help.

    every time I check for updates I get a bunch of important and optional updates. When I run the updates, a typical result is that some are installed, but about 2/3 fail. Running the updates again (after again running the scripts), may install 1 or 2 more. More attempts usually don't yield any more installations. Sometimes the update page says: "no more updates available", but when I scan again, some show up again. I have also tried to go to the KB page and manually install the updates. That often results in uploads that are "interrupted" and it may take 20 or so attempts to download them, only to result again in a failed update.

    so, when I look at my update history, it is riddled with "failed" updates that are "important". 

    A "clean boot" does not to help either...

    I am using Win8.1, by the way.

    come on, Microsoft, fix this !!!

    As per the description which you have posted in your post seems that you are unable to install the updates, this problem may occur if one or more of the following conditions are true: ****

    1. The Windows Update database is corrupted.
    2. Antivirus software is configured to scan the %Windir%\SoftwareDistribution folder.
    3. The Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) service does not receive a content link header.
    4. A required system file is registered incorrectly.

    Let's try to narrow down to see what is causing this issue and try to fix it. Please follow the methods mentioned below and see if it helps to fix the issue.

    Method 1:

    If your computer is having problems finding and installing operating system updates, try using a Windows Update troubleshooter to fix the problem. It makes sure that your computer is connected to the Internet, and checks to see whether your network adapter and Windows Update services are running correctly.

    Method 2

    If issue still persists I would suggest you to reset Windows Update components and for that try to run the fixit provided in the following article. If you had already tried the same fixit before I would request you to run the fixit again.
