Hi, When i try to take the updates, its throwing the error 8024A000. Not to able get wats the reason Help me out

Is anyone else still having problems with Vista and Windows Update and error 8024A000?? ... At the end of my tether!! I stumbled across a solution regarding the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver!! Apparently it's needs to be updated to take account of the larger HDD; I'm currently running version 9.5.6.1002 and that solved my Windows Update issues!! Of course this will only work for those with Intel Hardware!! But it maybe another avenue for people to consider. It was needed in my case with the SAME size replacement HD. Perhaps it has something to do with newer drives. I delayed, but tried it when someone else posted a link for it. Regards, Steve N.

Please try to download a new Rapid Storage Technology Driver from this link: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?lang=eng&DwnldID=15251 I used the third one STOR_allOS_9.6.0.1014_PV.exe My experience same as Eugen's >> Factory Restore media on same size HD. I also was unable to save edited pictures with Photo Gallery. This driver solved both and I tried all the above solutions! Re-registering all those dlls, BITS, renaming somefile(s) and some I'm sure I forgot. Regards, Steve N.

After doing all of the other "solutions" above, I also got different error codes to Win AU (e.g. 80070424). I Googled them and read solutions. I tried and re-tried various things; giving up for long periods. Eventually the original error code (80070424) did re-appear. I limped along on SP1 for 6 months B4 trying that driver as a last resort. Isn't this fun ?? I wish I knew more, but I know enough to be dangerous, I guess. Regards, Steve N.

This did not work for me. :( In my case, it says I have 7 important updates pending (Windows 8). I click on the Install button, and I get about 25% on the "Preparing..." thermometer, and it just quits and goes back to the original screen. No error message or anything, as if I didn't click the "Install" button. grr.

I would like for you to perform general Troubleshooting steps for Windows Update.

General Windows Update Troubleshooting

The following outlines how to stop services pertaining to Windows Update, rename system folders, register related DLL files, and then restart the previously mentioned services. This troubleshooting generally applies to all Windows Update related issues.

Stopping services pertaining to Windows Update

1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator.

2. If you receive a notification from User Account Control simply click Continue.

3. At the command prompt, type the following, commands and then press ENTER after each command.

net stop wuauserv net stop bits

net stop cryptsvc

4. Please do not close the Command Prompt window.

Renaming folders pertaining to Windows Update

1. At the command prompt, type the following commands, and then press Enter after each command:

2. If saved correctly the icon will change from a Notepad file to BAT file which has two blue cogs as its icon.
