Windows Update Error Code 8024A000

Hi,

 When i try to take the updates, its throwing the error 8024A000.

Not to able get wats the reason

Help me out

The Windows Update Error Code 8024A000 means WU E AU NOSERVICE. This is translated as AU was unable to service incoming AU calls.

I would like for you to perform general Troubleshooting steps for Windows Update.

General Windows Update Troubleshooting

The following outlines how to stop services pertaining to Windows Update, rename system folders, register related DLL files, and then restart the previously mentioned services. This troubleshooting generally applies to all Windows Update related issues.

Stopping services pertaining to Windows Update

1.     Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator.

2.     If you receive a notification from User Account Control simply click Continue.

3.     At the command prompt, type the following, commands and then press ENTER after each command.

net stop wuauserv         net stop bits

net stop cryptsvc

4.     Please do not close the Command Prompt window.

Renaming folders pertaining to Windows Update

1.     At the command prompt, type the following commands, and then press Enter after each command:

2.     ren %systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 Catroot2.old

3.     ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

4.     Please do not close the Command Prompt window.

Registering DLL’s pertaining to Windows Update

1.     Please copy and paste the following text into a new Notepad document, and save the file as WindowsUpdate.BAT

2.     If saved correctly the icon will change from a Notepad file to BAT file which has two blue cogs as its icon.

            -or-

3.     You can manually type each command at the command prompt:

 Restarting services pertaining to Windows Update

1.     Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator.

net start wuauserv         net start bits

net start cryptsvc

exit

4.     Now please check for updates using Windows Update to see if the issue has been resolved.

    Hey rupert i have this same error on my cpu after upgrading my hard drive but now i have a 1 tb hard drive and its saying i only have 48GB on my disc C i went into to the intel rapid storage system iin the tray brought it up and im thinking i have to increse volume so it says to go to the control panel and then admin. Tools and then computer management then to disk management and this is what i see

    There are three ways around this...

    1. Do it in Safe Mode, or ...

    2. http://www.howtogeek.com/128680/how-to-delete-move-or-rename-locked-files-in-windows/ or...

    1. Boot into a Linux Live CD, like Ubuntu.

    No. 1 is safest, but takes a while.

    No. 2 is QnD ("quick-and-dirty") but fast/

    No. 3 is adventurous, and slower than the other two.

    Hi!

    I have the same problems with Windows Updates and I'm trying to take the steps mentioned above.

    Unfortunately, I encounter the first problems already at the renaming steps.

    When typing  ren %systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 Catroot2.oldI get the message, Access denied, but I'm running as Admin...

    Would be nice if anyone can help.
