Hi rafcaf75,

  1. Did you try to install the game? If yes, what was the result?

We did check for the compatibility of the game Risk II with Windows 7 and found no information. This means that the game may or may not be compatible with Windows 7.

See Risk II compatibility

Step 1: We recommend you install the game in either Windows XP or Vista compatibility mode and check the difference.

To do this, see Make older programs run in this version of Windows

Step 2: If nothing works, then you may install the game in Windows XP mode

a. Download and install Windows XP mode.

b. Click Start, click All Programs, and click Windows XP Mode.

c. Open the game setup file and install it.

d. Launch the game and play it.

I had the same problem. when i launch "install risk.exe" i couldnt find the button "install".

You have to open CD folders, then open folder Risk II. inside is little computer icon called Setup. you have to click on it. then it will install risk.

P.S. its compatible with windows 7, i asked salesman.

If that doesn't work, try this for Windows 7:

Adjust LCD/Flatpanel widescreen settings to support Fixed Aspect Ratio Scaling:

    1. Adjust your desktop to a non-widescreen, 4:3 ratio setting, say, 1024 x 768, or 800 x 600
    2. Enable Aspect Scaling using your LCD monitor's manual menu settings
    3. Under Display Mode, select "Aspect" rather than "Full" screen mode; save settings and exit
    4. Adjust your desktop back to its native resolution

Clean Install of Risk II, in compatibility mode for Winxp ser. pack 2

    1. Dowload the RiskIISetup.exe, rather than run it from source
    2. Right click on the setup.exe file and select "Troubleshoot Compatibility"
    3. It should recommend Winxp Ser.pack 2, accept the settings and run the executable

The install program will end by asking if you want to install a desktop start, and then launch, yes! yes!

When Risk II launches you may see black bars on either side of the game screen, but that's only because it is displaying in the game's own native resolution (which isn't a widescreen format), and not attempting to stretch it to fit a widescreen.  I think it looks cool with the black bars, anyway.

And there you have it...  Think i'll go play another round of Risk II right now.

    Hi,

Whilst Tech Support will always resort to "try using Windows XP Compatibility mode" as their fallback option, the solution to this problem is simply to add the extension "-noavi" the program's shortcut.

    My own shortcut now reads:

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Risk II\RiskII.exe" -noavi

    and the program works fine.
