Hi rafcaf75,

  1. Did you try to install the game? If yes, what was the result?

We did check for the compatibility of the game Risk II with Windows 7 and found no information. This means that the game may or may not be compatible with Windows 7.

See Risk II compatibility

Step 1: We recommend you install the game in either Windows XP or Vista compatibility mode and check the difference.

To do this, see Make older programs run in this version of Windows

Step 2: If nothing works, then you may install the game in Windows XP mode

a. Download and install Windows XP mode.

b. Click Start, click All Programs, and click Windows XP Mode.

c. Open the game setup file and install it.

d. Launch the game and play it.

What I did to make it run under Windows 10 was to adjust the installer to Windows XP compability mode and run the installer as an admin. That was all.

XP Mode does not run on Win7 Home Premium though.

Since my earlier post I have read a couple of posts from others who also were able to run old 2000 and

    earlier games from XP Mode.

XP Mode does not do 3D acceleration, as does a 'real' XP install, but games from 2000 and earlier were

mostly 2D and not exactly 'graphics intensive', so it looks like it could be useful for some older games

    after all.

From the XP Mode web page -

"Windows XP Mode was primarily designed to help businesses move from Windows XP to Windows 7.

    It isn't optimized for graphic-intensive programs such as 3D games .... "

Here it is.  After searching and searching, and trying a million different things ("-noavi")(changing power/screen resolution settings)(running in compatibility mode), etc.,etc., it is this.  Risk II simply won't work in Win7 standalone, even if you use backward compatibility, so you have trick your Win7 machine into thinking it's an XP machine.  Easy fix: download the following:  works like a charm!

    Enjoy!
