Using windows 7 I have a NAS drive that I need to manually log into everytime my machine us started up - I want it to remember the login details and do it automatically when the machine starts as my wife also uses it and I want the auto backup to run.

Use credential manager in Windows 7 to remember the username and password for your NAS Drive if it doesnt remember it automatically.
Go to Start / Control Panel / User Accounts and Family Safety / Credential Manager
On the right hand side, right below where it says "Windows Credentials" Select "Add a Windows Credential".
Enter your NAS' Server name in the first box.
User Name in the second box and your password for the server in the third box.

I would suggest you to check the options in settings.
If it is a mapped network drive, Please follow the steps below:
1. Open Computer by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Computer.
2. Click Map network drive.
3. In the Drive list, click a drive letter.
You can choose any available letter.
4. In the Folder box, type the path of the folder or computer, or click Browse to find the folder or computer.
To connect every time you log on to your computer, select the Reconnect at logon check box.
5. Click Finish.
Your computer is now connected, or mapped, to the network drive.

There's a subtle 'error' windows (i'm on win 7) introduces when using credentials. It will set your username to "USER-PC/device username" when really all your device wants is "device username". I had to go into credentials manager and remove the "USER-PC" part, and works fine.

I have a similar problem. We are on a business network here at work and we mapped drives on computers that need to access certain files and folders. I have many many drives on many computers, but for some reason, on one of the computers it won't remember the Network Password for the mapped drives. I have redone the mapping, checked the remember password box, and even went to "Manage Network Passwords" in Control Panel / User Settings and added the mapped connections manually. But whenever the computer is restarted, they disappear from "Manage Network Passwords" where it even says "these passwords will be saved until user physically deletes them".
The computer is running Windows XP Pro like the rest of ours which we have no problem with. Any ideas?

Are you sure you mapped the same exact way on every computer? If someone else did most of the mapping it's maybe a good idea to ask him how he does it, he might be following a slightly different procedure. (mapping is very picky) its really odd that the credentials manager gets cleared I never witnessed that. the only thing i can say is when you map, it's really important not to click on "use different username" because it bypasses the credential manager and that will definetely always forgets credentials after restart. But it wouldn't clear the credential vault though. Maybe that computer needs a reformat? Also put credentials in the vault BEFORE mapping.
