Using windows 7 I have a NAS drive that I need to manually log into everytime my machine us started up - I want it to remember the login details and do it automatically when the machine starts as my wife also uses it and I want the auto backup to run.

Use credential manager in Windows 7 to remember the username and password for your NAS Drive if it doesnt remember it automatically.
Go to Start / Control Panel / User Accounts and Family Safety / Credential Manager
On the right hand side, right below where it says "Windows Credentials" Select "Add a Windows Credential".
Enter your NAS' Server name in the first box.
User Name in the second box and your password for the server in the third box.

I would suggest you to check the options in settings.
If it is a mapped network drive, Please follow the steps below:
1. Open Computer by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Computer.
2. Click Map network drive.
3. In the Drive list, click a drive letter.
You can choose any available letter.
4. In the Folder box, type the path of the folder or computer, or click Browse to find the folder or computer.
To connect every time you log on to your computer, select the Reconnect at logon check box.
5. Click Finish.
Your computer is now connected, or mapped, to the network drive.

I will add a few extra items. First, create credentials for each mapped drive as indicated in previous discussion. Then reboot. Then you should be able to run \hostname for each system with a mapped drive and folder should pop up. Then you can map your drive using the same information you put in the credential. However if you are on a business domain, then for the credential name for map network drive, your user should be domain\user - no slashes in front. This worked for me.
Also, I had trouble with a NAS that apparently only supports SMB1 which apparently allows a security leak. I need to upgrade my NAS to something newer than 6 years old. However, for now I had to run PowerShell in admin mode and run the command:
Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName SMB1Protocol
This allows the NAS to be mapped. Unfortunately, when I reboot, I have to run the command again.
Although I can now map MAC, Windows 10, Windows 7 and IOMEGA NAS this way, I can only see the Windows 10 system in Network view. But I can access all drives finally.
My drives are already listed here, with their names and password. But I do note that there is a line after "password" which reads "Persistence: logon Session".
When I click the "edit" link under this - there is no option to modify the "persistence"!
How to I make this "Persistence" permanent?
I wish it were that easy!
My drives are already mapped and the "reconnect at logon" box is ticked - but all drives refuse to logon and red crosses are present. Three will actually open when clicked, the fourth always asks for credentials!
