why do my Office 07 icons keep disappearing in windows 7?

This has happened to me as well and was corrected by viewing the properties from the desktop folder. Once I clicked on the change icon button and canceled the action all the icons for the Office 2007 programs and files were restored, including the taskbar pins.
Reinstalling the programs would not fix the problem from happening again IMO, and not an appropriate solution.

This happened to me as soon as i installed the products. I realised that these were all on my Dell Dock and when i dragged them away they appeared with the icons back to normal!
This did not work for me.
The CHANGE ICON is gray (not active).

This is not a fix, it is a workaround.
