Can you help trouble shoot Sharper Image Internet Weather Station EC-WS115?

If you are running AVG antivirus, it stops the complete install of the software on your PC.  I disabled AVG for 10 minutes,reinstalled (repaired)  the software installation by running the install again and I was able to save my location finally.

I tried that on my computer with XP and it did not work.  So I decided to install it on my other computer with Vista and it worked, or so I thought.  It remembered the location but would not go and get the latest weather update.  So I turned it off and tried again to start it up and it had forgotten the location; I tried reinstalling after that but it never would connect or remember any location.   Of course, I had AVG disabled all this time.

I bought one for my mother for Christmas and so far it works well.

I'm using software version 1.02 (from packaged CD), Windows 7 Ultimate x86.

I tried to find updated drivers online but I couldn't find anything.  Assuming by this thread... I seem to have the most updated version of the software.  If anyone knows the exact URL location of checking for software updates please let me know.

I've never been able to get it to work and I also have version 1.02 which came on the CD.

I too bought this device around Christmas time.  Had no trouble installing it (I use Windows 7 PRO), but like others here there seemed to be no connectivity between the USB device and the display device.  I got hold of a nice lady at Sharper Image who told me that it could take from 30 - 60 minutes for the two devices to communicate with each other.  (I watched closely to see if the two were passing handwritten notes in order to account for such a slow speed; no notes, but they must be using 2 Baud to do so.)  Anyhow it all works, except:

1.  The "Update" date on the screen never shows anything.

2.  Some of the predicted temperatures are bizarre, especially the "lows".  Had several instances when the display showed single-digit low temps when the weatherman was saying upper 20's.

At least the general weather prediction icons seem to be reasonable.

This device is a mixed bag; don't give up watching your 11:00 news and weather if accuracy is important to you.

ISSUE: the base unit would continually blink and only the time would update on the device after following all instructions. nothing i found online worked.

I'm running windows 7 (64bit). Version 1.02 on the weather station.

1. Exit the weather station software on the machine and shut off weather station.
2. Navigate to "c:\Program Fies (x86)\5-Day Forecast\5-Day Forecast"
3. Get properties of the 5-Day forecase.exe

4. Select "Run this program in compatability mode for: windows xp (service pack 3)

5. Check on "Run this program as administrator" / Click "OK"

6. Run "5-Day forecase.exe"

7. Turn weather staion unit back on

It took about 15 minutes for it to fully update the station. The RF light was still blinking until it was fully updated despite what the directions says. Hope this helps.
