As an addendum to the above, the RF receiving indicator on the main unit stops flashing after the very first update is completed on the main unit (30-45 minutes). Also updating the forecast manually takes about 10 minutes to show the update on the main unit. (Note: The RF receiving indicator stops flashing after the first update and doesn't flash again even if you turn off your computer and then turn it on again hours later.) I haven't had an issue with the main unit not receiving the USB RF transmitter signal and the main unit is in my living room about 25 feet away.
Can you help trouble shoot Sharper Image Internet Weather Station EC-WS115?
I got this as a gift. It came without a software disk. After emailing customer support I got a link to the the following software:
http://www.box.net/shared/static/6o8ihesobp.exe
I downloaded this software. It brings up the software images on my screen ... I can enter my home location in the software ... but the software never connects to the internet ... so I star all over again. The installation and troubleshooting guide for this software can be found at:
This gadget is supposedly compatible with Windows 7. I am running Windows 7 Pro on my HP Computer.

2010-12-29T04:00:27+00:00 I received this for Christmas and just went through setting it up. I'm using Win 7 32bit. I used the supplied disk that came with the unit, it connected, updated and installed ok. I set up my Home location and 4 other cities. (Make sure that you install the batteries in both the Main Unit and USB transmitter. Hook the main unit power supply into an AC outlet also.) Make sure the USB RF transmitter is plugged into an USB port on your computer, make sure that Windows installs the driver, then press the Transmit button on the bottom of the USB RF transmitter.
After that press the PC search button on the back of the Main Unit and you should see the RF antenna signal indicator flash. The time should display in about 5 minutes....then wait 30-45 minutes for the unit to do it's intial data update before you actually see all of the data on the Main Unit display. The data slowly gets added to the display the first time it's in use. (An indication that the data is being sent is the red LED flashes once on the top of the USB RF transmitter unit.)
Also it might help to have both units in fairly close together, maybe 2 feet or so for the first use. Then try more distance after that. I don't know how well this unit works with other potentially interfering devices. But so far it's in my computer room with my wireless router, and wireless home phone.

2010-12-29T02:31:57+00:00 I too have this same issue noted on jrf1665 - Win 7 32bit software loaded without an issue. Wireless connection starts flashing when I hit the pc search button, then the tower and letters RF stop flashing - time picks up in the upper right corner of the screen correctly, however bars continue to flash and nothing is displayed. How long did it actually take to transmit the information - minutes or like 30 - 40min?
Thanks!

2010-12-29T01:41:08+00:00 Hi all,
Running Win 7 64 bit. Software loaded without a problem but I had difficulty getting data from the website. The wireless connection was made but the data was not updated.
What I discovered was that I set the user data for my location under "City1" profile. This is the profile that displays after loading the software on the pc. I went back to the "home weather" tab then selected "set location" tab at the bottom. After updating my location information on this tab, the device starting working. Takes a little time so be patient.
I hope this helps some of you.

2010-12-21T03:49:56+00:00 I had the same problem that many seem to have. It won't accept parameters of location to connect. I have one computer with XP the other with VISTA and it's the same problem. I wish someone who has the solution would let us all know what it is.
